2007 - Mike Modano (Dallas Stars) scored his 502nd and 503rd career goals making him the all-time U.S. leader in goal-scoring.

Today in Texas History 1836 - In Texas, the Convention of 1836 adjourned as the Mexican army approached Washington-on-the-Brazos.

1964 - Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby was found guilty of murdering Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating President John F. Kennedy. Ruby had shot Oswald two days after the assassination, on November 24, 1963, as Oswald was being transferred.

1909 - Lubbock, TX, was incorporated as a city.

Today in Texas History 1758 - The Santa Cruz de San Sabá mission was destroyed by 2,000 Comanches and their allies. Eight residents were killed and the mission buildings were burned.

2002 - In Texas, Andrea Yates received a life sentence for drowning her five children on June 20, 2001.

1881 - The sale of town lots began in Abilene, TX. Abilene was officially established over the next two days when more than 300 lots were sold.

Today in Texas History 1836 - Texas Revolutionary soldier Lewis T. Ayers was captured by the Mexican forces of Gen. José de Urrea. This was the end of the battle of Refugio. He was later freed.
