Today, together with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Andrey Gurov, we signed a security agreement between our countries for at least 10 years. The key provisions include the continuation of military support from Bulgaria to Ukraine. An important element is joint production of various types of weapons on the territory of our country, including drones. Bulgaria will use the SAFE instrument for such co-production. I am grateful for the positive signal that Bulgaria is contributing to the PURL initiative. This is an opportunity for us to strengthen our air defense strategy. Energy is also very important. We are working to ensure an active energy corridor. This is extremely important for us today. This corridor could amount to around 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year that Ukraine can receive. For us, this also represents security guarantees – in the energy sector. Thank you for this visit and for these important agreements. 🇺🇦🇧🇬

My thoughts regarding Iran’s recent attack on international shipping and boasts that they are now in control of the Strait of Hormuz: Control the strait. Continue the blockade. Put Kharg island in the crosshairs. Over time, we have all the cards. After Iran’s brazen IRGC-led attack on international shipping and declaration that they’re now in control of the Strait, it is imperative America and the world answer this provocation. The U.S. and others must demonstrate the ability to control the Strait without Iranian interference. I urge President Trump to continue the blockade, which has been brilliantly executed and applies maximum pressure. It’s abundantly clear that after 47 years, promises coming from the Iranian regime are worthless. Steady as she goes. Stay resolved.

Like everyone, I yearn for peace in the Middle East. But we have to be smart.   Hezbollah and peace don’t fit in the same sentence.   Any ceasefire in Lebanon must include a credible path to disarm Hezbollah - one of the largest terrorist organizations in the world aligned with Iran that is dripping with American blood. If at the end of the day the severely degraded Iranian regime survives and receives sanctions relief, and Hezbollah is still left standing in Lebanon, it will only be a matter of time until both groups regenerate.   No ceasefires or peace deals that create pathways that allow the reemergence of terrorist states like Iran or terrorist organizations like Hezbollah. We’ve accomplished too much to allow this to be the end state. I trust President Trump and his team, not only to find peace, but make it real and sustainable.

While I appreciate every effort to bring peace through diplomacy in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, we have to be realistic about the situation on the ground.   The last thing we need to do in the name of peace is throw Hezbollah a lifeline by restricting Israel’s ability to attack this terrorist organization. Hezbollah is constantly attacking the state of Israel because they want to annihilate them. Hezbollah’s goal is not peaceful existence with Israel. Hezbollah’s goal is the utter destruction of the one and only Jewish state.   The Lebanese military has been woefully inadequate in credibly disarming Hezbollah. The political resolve by the Lebanese government regarding Hezbollah has been very uneven.   I will not support any agreement regarding peace in Lebanon that fails to convince me that it will result in the disarmament and demise of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. They are a threat to the United States, Israel and the region.   I look forward to reviewing any peace plan to see if it accomplishes this basic task. Any plan needs to be submitted to Congress, the same position I took in previous administrations.

Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.

Israel is killing many innocent people and children in Lebanon just as they did in Gaza, including Christians. But most Americans are silent. When I introduced amendments last year, to strip Israel of U.S. taxpayer’s money, only 5 other members of congress voted with me.

No great surprise. Netanyahu talked Trump into the disastrous war in Iran. We cannot allow Israel to continue shaping U.S. military and foreign policy. Next week I will be offering a resolution to stop U.S. military aid to Israel.
