Peter Glenser KC and Sean Sullivan (@SeanBSullivan) appear in leading firearms case. JD was prosecuted for possessing what was said to be a 3D printed lower receiver of an FGC-9 semi-automatic firearm. The trial judge, Mr Justice Foxton, made a ruling of general importance to the definition of a component part and the application of the “capability” defence within the Firearms Act 1968. JD was originally prosecuted for an offence of possession of a prohibited weapon to which the prosecution said he had, as a matter of law, no defence and to which he would be liable to a sentence of at least five years’ imprisonment. Once the ruling was given the prosecution indicated a plea to a less serious offence would be acceptable. JD pleaded to that offence and was conditionally discharged thereby avoiding any sentence of imprisonment. @TBlighe @KemiBadenoch Reagan was setting out a principled objection to tariffs with historical backing. Kemi endorses it. Relying on Reagan makes a separate and useful point to American conservatives who are following Trump's lead. Whatever your problem is, it's not a lack of detail being given.

@SeanBSullivan @KemiBadenoch I did listen to the whole of the Reagan video. All I'm saying is that Kemi could do better than relying on Reagan relying on the great depression. She needs to give an argument to support her assertion, and that argument should be grounded in current global reality.

I read her words, "President Trump’s tariffs will not make the US wealthier but they will make all of us poorer." Personally, I don't like tariffs, but I accept that there are reasons to use them. People also seem to have forgotten that Biden massively increased tariffs on Chinese solar panels, chips and cars.

The quickest way to increase aid into Gaza is for the hostages to be released; The quickest way for the hostages to be released is a sustainable ceasefire; And the quickest way to a sustainable ceasefire is for Hamas to accept the Egyptian proposal to which Israel has agreed.
