Interesting stuff today about parental complaints. This is a huge problem and will continue to get worse. It is now commonplace to be verbally abused, shouted at, blamed for students poor behaviour. Needs to come to an end.

It is simply not right that parents should be able to complain to the TRA. A loophole that needs to be closed to protect the wellbeing of staff.

Not posted in a while. I am completely and utterly fed up with absolutely awful parents enabling their children’s terrible behaviour. It is an epidemic.

Been reading a lot about behaviour recently. Some ideas to calm a class: - get the children moving - get them dancing - get play dough out These are all well and good in my opinion but I still think for some challenging classes these might even make things more challenging.

@SecAssistPrin Yep - which is why the figure quoted by DFE look higher than the national average, which will be all sus. Over all students.

Help needed! When looking at suspension rates for FSM do you take the # of suspensions for FSM and divide by the total number of students on roll or just the total number of FSM students? DfE has FSM rate of 16.02% for 2021-22

DfE Suspension rates. Really interesting for behaviour leads to compare your figures to. Spring term 2021/22 secondary schools rate 4.88%. By year group: 7=3.82%; 8=5.73; 9=6.52; 10=6.70; 11=5.44. Clear that suspensions going up everywhere

Mainstream? If not why not. Don’t underestimate the importance of this area.

Ofsted experience P2. AP absolutely massive. Who is out and why. They will talk about risk. How do you minimise this? Who contacts them, is their attendance accurate? What are views of parents? Are they on the approved provider list? Are they coming back into…

Alternative provision. Absolutely massive. I will do a separate tweet for this.

A huge one. How many of part-time TTS and why. How do you know they are safe? Do you use the Attend framework? Show minutes of meetings with parents and show you have engaged them in process.

So, a recent ofsted experience. Some tips for pastoral leads. Behaviour and attendance. Make sure you have your exact data including how many suspensions for FSM / PP students. What % of the cohort have been suspended. Show what you do in reintegration meetings eg what support
