If you want to know why confidence in USM leadership plummeted during the latter part of the VN War as well as the 1970's, look no further than Pete Hegseth. Can you imagine him as a platoon leader? It wouldn't turn out well. In the 1970's and afterwards, the USM made great strides to restore confidence in its officer corps and, imo, more recently Gen.
