The recent Culture Review of the @nmcnews has deeply distressed and traumatised many, including myself. I've had conversations with numerous members and non-members about this. My commitment to address toxic behaviors, such as racism, discrimination, bullying, and harassment, drove me to seek election as @RCNPresident . It is unacceptable for anyone to claim they are doing a good job, remain in their positions, and continue to be handsomely compensated while causing disproportionate harm to registrants and their own staff. Over the past year, the NMC's actions have contributed to the deaths of 6 people and 27 suicides since 2016, in addition to inflicting physical and psychological stress due to overt and covert racist and discriminatory behaviors, bullying, and harassment. I have completely lost confidence in the NMC and cannot trust them to uphold our nursing and midwifery profession. Another investigation, whether by the government or otherwise, will not bring about the necessary change needed now. The NMC leaders involved in these toxic cultures must take responsibility for the pain inflicted on our nurses and midwives and step down. This will allow a fresh start and begin the process of rebuilding and unifying our nursing, midwifery professional body. @rogerkline @AnnKeen11
