The US has officially renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. As an American, I am appalled by this decision. It scares me that we are starting to resemble russia more and more each day. Recall that, not long ago, russian lawmakers proposed renaming the Black Sea to the “Russian Sea.” Additionally, Republican Congressman Andy Ogles recently introduced a resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow President Donald Trump to be elected to a third term in the White House. A similar amendment was passed in russia in 2020, enabling Putin to remain in power indefinitely. I can’t help but feel like the US is becoming more like russia.
