🤝 Thank you to Liverpool Royal Court for visiting the College this afternoon to deliver a theatre performance for our Year 7 and 8 pupils. Working in partnership with Merseyside Police, the Liverpool Royal Court are delivering workshops across the North West to educate KS3 and KS4 pupils on important topics including county lines, gang culture, drugs, and relationships. Our pupils were highly engaged throughout the thought-provoking performance, and we hope it will have a positive and lasting impact.

🧮 Our Year 12 Further Mathematics students welcomed 7S to the College Hall to take part in an exciting experiment. As part of their A Level Statistics module, the Year 12 students are exploring hypothesis testing, and the data collected today produced statistically significant results. It was fantastic to see such initiative and enthusiasm from our Year 12 mathematicians, and we thank 7S for their eager participation. A special congratulations goes to pupil No. 25, who was delighted to win the prize!

🎉 Thank you to everyone who came along to the FOSEC Quiz Night last Friday, over 100+ attended. It was a closely fought and good-natured competition between parents and staff, with one of the staff teams redeeming themselves this year by taking the title in both the quiz and the plasticine challenge, congratulations to all involved! The next FOSEC event is the Ladies’ Afternoon Tea, taking place the day before Mother’s Day. If you missed the quiz, we would love to see you there. All funds raised go directly towards benefiting our pupils, including supporting extracurricular activities and equipment for sports clubs, Geography, Music and many more areas across the College.

🍽️ Our Hospitality and Catering pupils enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to the school kitchen during prep for the day ahead. They had the opportunity to see a real working kitchen in action, explore professional equipment and learn how a commercial kitchen operates. Thank you to our Catering team for a valuable and insightful experience!

🧪 A fantastic turnout at our Year 11 Science intervention session on Thursday. It was great to see pupils making the most of extra support as they prepare for their exams. Our extra-curricular clubs offer opportunities for pupils to gain additional help in their subjects and to extend their learning beyond the classroom. 🧮 On Thursday, Year 9 and 10 pupils took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. The 60-minute, 25-question challenge tested their mathematical reasoning, precision and fluency, encouraging careful thinking and problem-solving. A great opportunity for pupils to stretch their skills and rise to new challenges. Well done to all for taking part!

🇵🇱 This week marks the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp. Our Senior Prefects had the opportunity to travel to Poland for their annual trip, a powerful and reflective experience that encouraged deep thought on history, remembrance and human dignity. From taking in the breathtaking views at the top of the bell tower at Wawel Cathedral in Kraków, to exploring the Salt Mines on Day 2, the trip has been filled with meaningful moments. A special highlight was an impromptu performance from our talented senior choir, adding a moment of beauty and reflection to the visit. An unforgettable journey of learning, remembrance and togetherness for our Senior Prefects.

🛩️ Year 9 pupils enjoyed a visit to the International War Museum, where they explored key moments in 20th Century history and developed their understanding of documentary making through engaging, hands-on learning.

🎶 Day 2 of the Poland trip began with a visit to the Salt Mines, where students explored this remarkable site. The morning was made even more special by an impromptu performance from our talented senior choir!

👩‍🍳 Our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering pupils were busy in the kitchen this morning, cooking up a delicious tagliatelle carbonara. 🍝 Hospitality and Catering is one of the newer subjects on offer at St Edward’s, introduced last year, and it has already proven a great success. We are delighted that Year 9 pupils will soon have the opportunity to choose this GCSE as part of their options in the coming weeks.

🇵🇱 Greetings from the top of the bell tower at Wawel Cathedral in Kraków! Our Senior Prefects have arrived safely in Poland and are already making the most of their annual trip.

🌍 Sixth Form students Justin and Maleeka travelled to Geneva this week with ERI and other Edmund Rice schools for an inspiring trip. During the visit, they visited the United Nations, learned about how UN mechanisms work, observed UPR sessions and worked alongside young people from other schools to develop their collaborative advocacy for justice skills.

📣 Quiz night at the College! Join us for a FOSEC Quiz Night on Friday 30 January at 7.00pm in the College Dining Hall. This always-popular evening promises plenty of fun, friendly competition and a great chance to catch up with members of the St Edward’s community.
