Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film. “Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since ‘Dr. No’ with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” Villeneuve said. variety.com/2025/film/news…

OpenAI's new model tried to avoid being shut down. Safety evaluations on the model conducted by @apolloaisafety found that o1 "attempted to exfiltrate its weights" when it thought it might be shut down and replaced with a different model.

Today is exactly 9 months since I got my surgery. Boy does it not feel like it. Let me update you on what’s been going on and what is to come. In the last couple of months I traveled to Paris and used my Neuralink over an ocean and on another continent away from any physical support from a team. I hand-wrote a haiku to @elonmusk (which still output as text on my computer, of course) and journaled as if I was writing on a piece of paper for the first time in years. I used the BCI for 24 hours straight and then 48 hours straight in back to back weekends. I placed a bet online, created a couple animations on Scratch, and operated a (unofficial) camera at @SpaceX 's Starbase the morning of Starship 5 launch. I learned about Nietzsche on @petersonacademy, used my French in France and my Japanese with a Japanese journalist, and I started the process of returning to school. I used my Neuralink on a phone, drew simple shapes, and signed my name on an official document. I played @OldSchoolRS, @StarCraft 2, @totalwar : Warhammer 3, @MaxInfernoGames ' A Little To The Left, @poncle_vampire 's Vampire Survivors, and about a dozen .io games. But more than anything, I worked with Neuralink to try and better clicks, handwriting, user interface, and overall user experience for all who come after me. There is so much in the pipeline that I’m not even sure I can do it justice here. There are things we’re waiting on @US_FDA approval for, so I’ll put a pin in that for now. More participants to come so please go apply if you meet the immediate criteria for participants. Also, if you have any skills go apply at @neuralink , numchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills, whatever they may be. I’ve also essentially been given the ability to never stop using the Neuralink as long as my body can handle not sleeping, which is why I was able to use it for 24/48hours straight. I think this weekend I might go for 72. I’m in the middle of doing a lot of interviews again, which I find extremely rewarding when I think about the new groups of people who may hear or read about this for the first time. I’m so close to going back to school and also trying incredibly hard to find a way to support myself long-term. It would be much easier if the school of my choice would just let me in and let me get my degree from home and also if someone would just give me like a million dollars or something. But nothing worth having ever comes easy, as the old adage says. There are also a few things I want to show y'all and drop for y'all in the coming weeks which should be a lot of fun. I’ve been able to share my faith, express a few of my personal beliefs, and show a different side of myself on X all thanks to the support of the community around me. Daily, I feel like I’m on my computer or my phone nonstop, which may or may not be a good thing. I joke. For someone like me, it has changed my life for the better. I can’t help but think of all the possibilities which will be available to everyone reading this someday in the future. Sorry that this update is more scatterbrained, I'm kind of just writing whenever it comes to mind. I think as the months roll on into next year I may be involved in speaking engagements, something which I can only hope will further the field. If that’s something you organizations, schools, businesses or anything else of the sort may be interested in, feel free to reach out here. There’s still much more I want to do and many ways in which I can be better. I hope to keep pushing myself and stay accountable to all of you. I’m here to serve. I only hope that, at the end of the day, I can find a way to help more people. -Noland & Eve

Well - the entire crew of season two of #AdamRichmanEatsBritain has just been robbed. We were driving from Birmingham to London, stopped at a rest, stop in Barnet for exactly 4 1/2 minutes to use the restroom, and came back to our van completely cleaned out. All of the filming equipment is gone. Both of my suitcases with all of my possessions are gone. Backpack with my laptop and all of my medications are gone . And to make matters worse, because I have trackers on some of my possessions, and because of my laptop, I can see where these things are. But we have to wait here for the police. The rest stop won’t release the security footage until the police arrive. It’s been almost an hour. I’m going to share a few of the locations where I can see my possessions. Reward for anything found.

The dark secret of AI research is that AI research is not that hard, but veiled in the mystique of prestige and difficulty. Coding a transformer from scratch is not hard. Coding a multimodal LLM from scratch is not hard. Some of these AI researchers be gatekeeping. The YouTuber who taught me a 32 step makeup routine would be able to code a transformer from scratch. My hair dresser who lightened my hair to this precise shade of caramel bronde would be able to code a transformer from scratch. My friends from undergrad who went into the adult entertainment industry instead of STEM would be able to code a transformer from scratch with their eyes closed. The knowledge is _specialized_, but not difficult. There is a difference. Our perception of AI research has more to do with socioeconomics, class, and what we consider prestigious, than the inherent difficulty of the thing. Some of these AI researchers be gatekeeping.

Today is seven months since I had my surgery. Here's a quick update. Currently I'm in session with the great staff at Neuralink Monday through Friday for roughly four hours each day. I'm working on using different body parts and movements for left, right, and middle click. I'm also doing lots of work with handwriting. As in, imagining I'm holding a pencil, and writing characters to outputting keystrokes. I'm also doing lots of experiments on a daily basis to try and make everything better for all those who come after me. Whether that's improving the user interface, improving the user experience, or just overall performance. And of course, I'm constantly pushing myself to try and break as many records as I can. I'm so close to breaking a couple more! In my free time Eve (what I've named my @neuralink device) and I have been working towards improving myself in many different ways. Currently, I'm learning French and Japanese for roughly three hours a day using a few different resources. I also decided to relearn my math from the ground up in preparation for hopefully going back to school one day. I've been using the @petersonacademy for a little over an hour each day to try and educate myself in other areas in which I'm interested. I spend at least an hour reading each day, from @BrandSanderson to Stieg Larsson, Tolkien to Hugo, and more. I've begun my creative writing again. I'd like to publish one day. And of course I've been using it to do devotionals and Bible studies. Looking forward I'm trying to get back to school--hopefully at my alma mater-- because I'd like nothing more than to finish my degree. Or possibly switch degrees and focus more on neuroscience since I might have some insight to the field at this point. Maybe I can be useful. I'm also considering trying to find work and be a productive member of society again. I still have a dream of starting a charity and even building my parents a home one day. I would like to stream more and be a better advocate and interact more with the community, those are things in which I am confident I can be better. But right now I'm just doing what I can. I really did mean for this to be a quick update so I'm sorry for the novella. Ultimately, I'm having a blast and my life has improved so much in such a short time. It's hard to even put into words. And thank you for supporting me in this journey. Y'all have made this experience for me unbelievably amazing. The messages I've received have made me cry in the best possible way, made me physically laugh out loud, and helped me grow as a person. I couldn't be more grateful. I have a lot more exciting things to come, so stay tuned. Noland & Eve, a.k.a. P1
