How the fuck did we get here? How did Western civilization in the 21st century get to a point where public antisemitism was acceptable? How did the same country that was behind the Holocaust get to the point where there’s been an over 120% spike in antisemitic incidents in just 2.5 years, much greater in some areas? How have societies who stand up against every form of hate, including black, gay, queer, and Islamic, been allowed to explode with Jew hatred? And not only explode - how has it become normalized? How are businesses allowed to refuse service to Jews? How are people allowed to protest against and vandalize businesses simply because they’re owned by Jews? How are people allowed to gather and yell outside of Jewish establishments and homes and synagogues, just because they are associated with Jewish people? Are our governments this naive to believe that this is “anti-Israel sentiment” in response to the war and the bullshit information Hamas is publishing about number of death and the conditions there? Or are they so consumed with their own Jew-hatred that they’re ok supporting this? Or perhaps they just want the votes? Or maybe they have no fucking clue about how to shut it down without being called “Islamophobic” and they’re too afraid of that label? Whatever the reason for their inaction, many Western counties are starting to feel more like the 1930s than they do the 2020s. And unless something happens to alter the path we’re on, the 2030s will likely very much resemble the 1940s. “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” Our leaders need to look at the history and learn from it very quickly. Or else our civilization will be doomed. #NeverAgainIsNow
