Some lovely feedback for ep 1 of Will and Ralf Should Know Better on @UandDave last night. Some that binge watched the whole series have seen what a journey it was. Hopefully seeing us actually open up between the laughs will encourage others to do the same. @Mellor76 💕

The sort of @TeacherTapp stat that should make policymakers squirm. Teachers in deprived areas most likely to say a pupil in their form left to be home-educated this year.

@branwenjeffreys Look at the "leave teaching" social media sites. More and more women on maternity leave are reporting that they have been refused the opportunity to work part time on their return. Many schools making it clear they don't want parents of young children on their staff.

Teachers get 4 weeks on full pay on maternity leave, followed by 2 at 90% before dropping to half pay. Most supermarkets we looked at offer 26 weeks full pay - except Lidl which has just moved to 28 weeks full pay bbc.com/news/articles/…

Brave police, firefighters & paramedics saved lives in the horrific Southport attack. Total disgrace those same emergency services were attacked & officers injured by violent thugs from out of town. Grieving community & emergency services deserve all our support & respect.

Big cleanup operation underway in Southport, most of it now cleared to the great credit of residents here. Council teams have arrived to sweep streets and reopen them. The cost of the cleanup will be borne by residents via their council tax, as if they haven’t suffered enough.

I thought I would fact check this bizarre article from this weekend's Observer (not, as people keep saying, the @guardian, which normally is much better for quality education coverage). It's almost easier to find out what is true, than to deal with all the inaccuracies. 🧵

They will be very aware of the number of trainees and ECT's who have had a miserable time due to bullying from mentors or senior management; the increased use of support plans in schools and references held over their heads as a threat.

@MaryWBousted @TolpuddleFest Possibly the number of Headteachers refusing part time working to new mothers returning from maternity leave might have something to do with it.

At @TolpuddleFest today I marched with a physics teacher with 15 years’ teaching experience and two young children. She left teaching yesterday. She did not want to but her work was incompatible with her family life. We will not fix the teacher supply crisis until we fix this.

@HMRCcustomers No one answers no matter what time of day you ring. There is no email address, no online chat. It's a really poor service

@HMRCcustomers cannot contact HMRC on the phone AGAIN. Have been sent an online letter for simple assessment, they say I owe from 2019!! Link to pay says I'm not allowed to access. I have spent hours on the phone now, they just don't answer

@HMRCcustomers When I managed to speak to an advisor last week my letter said I owed one amount, the letter online this morning says it is £100 higher.. How can this be?

@HMRCcustomers Thank you. Final question, should I be sent a break down of what is being charged so I can check I am not being charged interest for something that wasn't my fault and I didn't know about until 5 years later?

@SuziPow Without access to records I can't see why, but sometimes we are not able to code out any underpayment due to the estimated salaries. There is also a time limit for collecting the tax through the tax code, and that's now passed. Steve

@HMRCcustomers should a request for simple assessment be shown on my online Tax account? I have received a bill for tax owing from 5 years ago. This is the first I have heard. I have been registered online since 2021 and it has never shown on that year before. Is this genuine?
