Doesn’t this mean folks don’t believe in this capitalist driven economic system that destroys planets? Where is the Reconciliation Party? The one that says Whoa folks, we went down the wrong path. Those who were already here have a better system. Let’s use that! colonizers tho…

Less than half of BC's eligible voters voted yesterday. Doug Ford is in power because of 18.2 percent of eligible voters in Ontario. The only movement Canada needs is a voting movement.

#BreakingNews: "The Musqueam Agreements do not affect privately owned land" stated Crown-Indigenous Relations spokesperson Pascal Laplante in an email to the New Westminster Times moments ago. Here is Laplante's full statement: "The Musqueam Agreements do not affect privately owned land. The Incremental Recognition Agreement provides general recognition that Musqueam has Aboriginal rights and title within their Territory and establishes a framework for ongoing discussions and future negotiations to define how and where those rights and title could apply. Further, Musqueam has been clear they have no interest in taking over private property. As stated by Musqueam Chief Sparrow in December 2025: “Musqueam is not coming for anyone’s private property. Our approach to traditional unceded territory is one of partnership and relationship with our neighbours, not trying to take away our neighbours’ private property.” Canada firmly believes that the best way to resolve outstanding claims is to work together in partnership through co-operative negotiations and respectful dialogue. Not through litigation. Our government has made the responsible choice of negotiating these agreements. In doing so, we are able to resolve longstanding disputes about land in a way that respects the rights of Indigenous People, upholds existing private property rights, and is in the best interest of all Canadians."

Wildfire and smoke, extreme heat, flooding and drought are already affecting communities across the Central Okanagan, and these impacts are expected to grow in the years ahead. That’s why the RDCO is inviting residents to help shape a new Regional Climate Resilience Strategy (RCRS). Your input will help identify practical actions to reduce risks and strengthen how our communities prepare for future climate events. Have your say by taking the short survey: yoursay.rdco.com/RCRS
