TRAC FM
@TRACFM
TRAC FM lets citizens participate in Radio Polls through SMS and Realtime data-visualisation. We promote informed public debate and collect valuable data

In Uganda, radio talk shows provide a crucial platform for citizens to voice their opinions, with millions tuning in weekly. @TRACFM , our partner, attracts 20,000 responses, via both text messages and phone calls, weekly and reaches millions of listeners. However, the manual processing of thousands of text messages and phone calls is resource-intensive. By partnering with TRAC FM, Sunbird AI aims to improve citizen engagement. Our AI-powered transcription and translation technology promises to convert feedback into applicable data, enabling a deeper understanding of public sentiment.

We are thrilled to announce that TRAC FM's #SautiStream campaign has been highlighted in the @WRTHinfo Handbook 2025: wrth.info 🎉 This recognition showcases TRAC FM's efforts to amplify voices across Uganda, connecting citizens and leaders through participatory radio polling and meaningful radio discussions. The campaign has sparked nationwide conversations on human rights, education, and community priorities, reaching over 140, 000 poll respondents through TRAC FM's innovative approach. By utilizing interactive radio and free SMS, citizens share their views, shaping public dialogue and holding leaders accountable. This milestone underscores TRAC FM's commitment to bridging gaps between communities and policymakers, ensuring every voice matters. 13k Ugandans responded to our #SautiStream radio poll asking what they think of online activists expressing their discontent on the internet. 51% feel represented, 21% are aware but don’t feel respected and 28% are unaware of online activism altogether. This means almost half of our respondents are excluded from online conversations. We’ve organized an X Space in partnership with @chapterfourug and @cipesaug to not only explore the role of digital activism in promoting freedom of expression but also discuss the challenges of inclusivity in Uganda’s activism.
