E15 fuel economy back center stage. Here are MPG results from California testing. Average loss was 1.3% but note some saw MPG gain! The fuel is averaging a national discount of 8% today. Your cost per mile goes down with E15 - there is no debate. Add ethanol - octane goes up, cost goes down.

Here is the big news from today's RVO announcement: "EPA is announcing that starting in 2028, foreign fuels and feedstocks will receive half the RFS compliance value compared to American-made products, providing American biofuel producers with time to prepare for the change while ensuring that American farmers benefit from the RFS program and American energy independence." So, the "half-RIN" proposal did not get completely killed. If this is implemented in Set 3 (2028 and later years), it changes everything for those years. The #RFSwars roll on.

Port Arthur sits along the Gulf Coast refining corridor that handles nearly half of all U.S. refining capacity. This comes at the worst possible time. The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed. Iraq declared force majeure on its oil production. Qatar's LNG hub is damaged. Global crude is above $100. And the U.S. just authorized sales of Iranian and Russian oil to keep markets from spiraling further. Even a temporary shutdown of a facility this size tightens domestic fuel supply at a moment when Americans are already paying $3.90+ at the pump.
