PRESS STATEMENT ODUDUWA HALL NOT AVAILABLE FOR PETER OBI’s LECTURE — OAU The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, wish to clarify the circumstances surrounding the proposed lecture by His Excellency, Peter Obi, at the University. The general public is hereby informed that a particular group within the Students’ body extended an invitation to the former Presidential Candidate and two-term Governor of Anambra State to deliver a lecture within the University premises. The University authorities were not duly informed of the status and calibre of the invited guest until Friday, just a day before the scheduled programme. It is important to note that events involving high-profile personalities of such standing require adequate prior notification to the University authorities because it will enable the institution to make necessary logistical and security arrangements, including proper liaison with relevant security agencies such as the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), in order to ensure the safety of the guest, members of the University community and the general public. Consequently, given the short notice and the attendant inability to complete these critical arrangements, the University authorities could not approve the use of Oduduwa Hall for the event as requested by the organisers. The decision was taken purely in the interest of safety, orderliness and adherence to established protocols governing the use of University facilities, adding that it is not, in any way, a reflection of disregard for the person or status of His Excellency, Peter Obi, whom the University holds in high esteem. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire is, and remains committed to supporting intellectual engagements and hosting distinguished personalities, provided that due process is followed and adequate notice is given. Members of the University community, students and the general public are therefore enjoined to always comply with laid-down procedures in planning events within the University because we all are partners in progress for the overall development of the University. — Source: OAU News Update

Whenever you speak i will come for you. this is not just about coalition or power — it is about doing what is right.After eight years of a failed government from another region, the right thing was for power to shift to the South. Even though your principal tried to stop it, it happened anyway. Now, let us return to the real issue. Is Tinubu a Southerner? Yes. Is he performing as a good president? No. Should we change Tinubu as president? Yes. Should we replace him with someone from the previous region that did 8 year's in power ? Capital No. Should the South complete its term in producing the president? Yes. Does the South have a credible substitute? Yes. That substitute is a good man who has done it before and can do it again. His track record speaks for him, not just his name.For the unity, progress and wellbeing of our nation, the South must finish its term. His Excellency Peter Obi is the one who should lead this country to the promised land.Nigeria will be OK.

While the experience might be hurting, there's a positive note to this Xenophobic treatment. If Nigerians are dealt with in this manner continuously, we would have no choice than to come together and confront squarely the evil forces holding us down. Cowardice of Japa must end!

This breaks my heart. Seeing him shaking, scared, and helpless is something no human being should ever have to go through. It’s time we start asking ourselves hard, honest questions. What kind of society are we becoming if we turn against one another like this? South African citizens living abroad are not treated this way, yet here we are, choosing to bully and attack fellow Africans living among us. We cannot normalize this madness. We cannot stay silent. But let’s talk about the matter at hand politics.Just three years ago, our brother from the North completed his eight-year tenure. Whatever his achievements or shortcomings, the majority of Nigerians viewed that administration as largely unsuccessful. For the sake of equity and national balance, power was expected to rotate back to the South. It did but unfortunately, it went to the wrong hands.Thankfully, the South still has a credible alternative: a man widely respected across the country for his honour, dignity, and integrity. With a proven track record of good governance, His Excellency Chief Peter Obi remains the leader many Nigerians are proudly following.Nigeria will be better. Nigeria will be OK.
