I’m really struggling to understand what these guys want. They have done some admirable work. But in respect of the social contract public spending has virtually doubled in less than a decade. Ireland has a highly distributionist welfare model. So, what specifically do they want?

Once the new 10c reduction comes into affect tonight, this will bring prices in Ireland down this table further. Price of oil going up is negating that, however.

I have spoken to the protesters today. They are willing to allow 10 loads of fuel out of Whitegate today for emergency services. This could increase tomorrow if there are positive results from the talks today. The government must engage.

Instead of blocking huge numbers of hard working Dubliners from getting home after a hard days work.
Huge numbers of buses are stranded on or around the Quays.
