What does the Monetary Policy announced yesterday bring for Bharat? ✅ Easing credit access for the underserved: Lower repo rates will ultimately lead to cheaper loans. For small business owners, farmers, and gig workers in rural India, this will translate to lower barriers to credit. It gives them room to invest, to expand, and to dream bigger. ✅ Support for informal and nano enterprises: Bharat is home to 60+ million MSMEs, most of them unregistered and operating outside formal finance. Cheaper credit means more working capital and less reliance on high-interest informal lending. ✅ Relief for households under financial stress: With inflation easing — particularly in food prices — and EMIs expected to reduce with 50 bps reduction in policy rate this calendar year, rural households now have some breathing room to spend, save, or invest more meaningfully. ✅ Incentivising digital infrastructure adoption: Cheaper capital also benefits fintechs and NBFCs focused on Bharat. They can innovate, scale up credit products, and invest in agent networks that bring formal finance to India’s last-mile. ✅ Greater transparency and trust: By communicating policy in plain terms and reiterating its position as a steady hand in volatile times, the RBI’s approach helps once again rebuild confidence in the system — critical for onboarding first-time users into formal finance. At Spice Money, we see this as a timely opportunity — to deepen our role as a digital bridge, empowering lakhs of Adhikaris and crores of customers with access to credit, savings, insurance, and beyond. When monetary policy decisions are taken with Bharat in mind — and when platforms like ours help turn them into simple, local solutions — that’s when intent begins to make a real difference. #BridgingBharat #RBIPolicy #FinancialInclusion #SpiceMoney #LastMileFinance #DigitalIndia #FintechForBharat

Spice Money Academy has digitally trained over 5.28 lakh rural Adhikaris across India. From financial literacy to digital banking readiness, the Spice Money Academy is skilling Bharat’s grassroots to lead from the front. The idea behind Spice Money Academy has always been rooted in one question: how do we bridge Bharat’s digital divide in a way that is scalable, sustainable, and deeply inclusive? Our approach has been to empower rural nanopreneurs —Adhikaris—by equipping them with the tools, technology, and training needed to act as the last-mile delivery agents for financial services. Spice Money Academy is a natural extension of that vision. It ensures these agents don’t just provide access—they become enablers of trust, knowledge, and digital confidence within their communities As India’s financial landscape grows more digital and compliance-driven, the Spice Money Academy steps in to close the gap between access and understanding—through structured learning that’s mobile-first, certified, and deeply contextual for a stronger, smarter, more resilient network of rural nanopreneurs shaping Bharat’s economic story from the ground up. The full story is in the press release—where vision meets real-world impact. Don’t miss it. #SpiceMoneyAcademy #RuralFintech #Bharat #Adhikari #BuildingPeople #NewIndia smestreet.in/sectors/spice-…

March 2025 was a milestone moment: ₹24.77 trillion transacted. 19.78 billion transactions. A 42% YoY surge in volume, 30% in value. Numbers that tell a bigger story—UPI isn’t just for small-ticket payments anymore. Businesses, financial institutions, and individuals are all tapping into its ease and efficiency. And here’s the real shift: 590 million transactions. Every. Single. Day. A system that started as a convenience is now the core of everyday commerce. What’s next? More innovation, deeper integration, and an even more inclusive financial landscape. The momentum is unstoppable. India’s digital payments story is being rewritten in real time. #UPI #DigitalIndia #Payments #Fintech #FinancialInclusion moneycontrol.com/news/india/upi…

With over 2.3 million AEPS touchpoints across Bharat. The breakthrough lies in digitizing small-value deposits, expanding credit access, and transforming BC networks. In a recent discussion with Yashraj Erande from BCG, we explored how digital public infrastructure can reshape financial inclusion. Traditionally, BC networks were branch-based, limiting their reach. However, technology now enables us to overcome these barriers and create an interoperable, bank-agnostic financial ecosystem, bringing banking to every corner of India. AEPS is no longer just about cash withdrawals; it can serve as the backbone for: Small-value deposits, fostering savings habits in rural India Microcredit, supporting the growth of small businesses Financial literacy and digital trust, empowering millions An economic opportunity for banks, unlocking deposits, credit, and lending at scale At Spice Money, we're witnessing this transformation firsthand—empowering 1.5 million nanopreneurs across 50,000 villages. By using vernacular languages, voice technology, and biometrics, we are making financial services more accessible than ever before. Watch the full conversation here: youtu.be/lmGa8boXe1M?si…

Had an insightful conversation with Yashraj Erande on how we can reimagine the Business Correspondent (BC) network and #AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) to deepen #digital financial inclusion in #India. India has already set global benchmarks with #UPI, bringing over 400 million users into the digital payments fold. But there’s another equally powerful, yet often overlooked, force at play—AEPS. With another 400 million users transacting through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, AEPS is quietly driving financial access in semi-urban and #rural India. The real question now is: How do we bridge the gap and onboard the next 200 million users? The answer lies in leveraging our existing digital public infrastructure—Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile (#JAM) + UPI + AEPS—to make financial services more accessible, seamless, and meaningful for those who need them the most. One key transformation? Turning BC networks from cash withdrawal points to full-fledged financial access hubs. Today, people can withdraw #money via AEPS at over 500,000 village-level merchant points. But what if we enable them to deposit cash just as easily? If we make cash deposits as effortless as withdrawals, we won’t just be moving money—we'll be moving trust, security, and empowerment into the hands of millions. This shift can unlock better savings behavior in rural India, stronger credit histories for small entrepreneurs, and more financial security for women and underserved communities. The next evolution of India’s financial ecosystem isn’t just about payments—it’s about creating a two-way digital bridge for the Bharat that still transacts in cash. Excited to push these conversations forward and work towards a more inclusive Digital Bharat. #FinancialInclusion #AEPS #BusinessCorrespondents #DigitalBharat #FintechForBharat #UPI #JAM #FintechInnovation youtube.com/watch?v=lmGa8b…

The Union Budget 2025-26 brings a strong focus on rural empowerment, financial inclusion, and MSME growth, reinforcing India's commitment to an inclusive and digital-first economy. The decision to reposition India Post as a public logistics powerhouse is a significant step forward. With 1.5 lakh #rural post offices and 2.4 lakh Dak Sevaks, this move will strengthen rural supply chains, boost entrepreneurship, and enhance last-mile service delivery. The expansion of India Post Payment Bank’s services will further drive financial inclusion, making banking more accessible in underserved areas. The Budget introduces ₹5 lakh credit cards for micro-enterprises and a ₹2 crore term loan scheme for first-time women entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities. These initiatives will unlock credit, foster entrepreneurship, and fuel grassroots economic resilience. The Budget also reinforces India's leadership in #AI by announcing the launch of a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Education. This initiative aims to develop AI-driven solutions for skilling, learning, and research, equipping the next generation with cutting-edge digital capabilities. Additionally, the expansion of UPI and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) will further accelerate financial inclusion, seamless transactions, and access to credit for rural entrepreneurs and MSMEs. With a strong push for #rural commerce, financial inclusion, and MSME development, this Budget lays the groundwork for greater accessibility, employment-led growth, and sustainable economic expansion. As #technology, policy, and finance converge, the focus must remain on scaling digital infrastructure, ensuring seamless credit access, and fostering self-reliance across Bharat. This Budget isn’t just about economic numbers—it’s about turning aspirations into opportunities and building a smarter, more connected, and financially empowered nation. #Budget2025 #RuralEmpowerment #FinancialInclusion #MSMEGrowth #UPI #AI #DigitalIndia #Entrepreneurship

There was a time when Digital India was just a vision. Today, it's a reality that's transforming lives at the grassroots level. I recently came across Sanjivani Jadhav's story from Poynad, Alibaug. A traditional basket weaver who turned into a digital payment champion, her journey mirrors millions of Indians embracing financial technology. Her daily earnings of ₹500-600 are now entirely digital. "Who wants to keep cash anymore?" she asks. This simple question reflects a profound shift in mindset - from cash-first to digital-first. The real magic? UPI isn't just a payment system; it's a bridge connecting artisans to the digital economy, making tourist transactions seamless, enabling supplier payments digitally, and building trust in formal financial systems. Think about this - a traditional craftswoman in a village now processes payments faster than many modern retailers did just a few years ago. That's the power of inclusive digital transformation. The Journey Ahead: Beyond Boundaries What started as a simple payment solution has evolved into a global phenomenon. #UPI One World now welcomes international travelers with PPI wallets linked to UPI, making their Indian journey as seamless as a local's. From G-20 tourists experiencing our digital revolution to cross-border payments gaining momentum, UPI is truly going global. The transformation spans across every segment of society. UPI 123Pay brought digital empowerment to feature phone users, while UPI Autopay revolutionized recurring payments for the tech-savvy. The integration of RuPay credit cards with UPI marks another milestone, blending traditional banking with digital innovation. Looking ahead, India's UPI story is rewriting global fintech narratives. As cross-border transactions surge and international markets embrace our indigenous solution, we're not just digitizing payments – we're crafting a new chapter in financial inclusion. Like Sanjivani's story, UPI is weaving together tradition and technology, creating a tapestry of digital transformation that extends far beyond our borders. This isn't just India's success story; it's becoming a #global blueprint for digital financial evolution. #DigitalTransformation #UPISuccess #GlobalIndia #FinancialInclusion

As we look ahead to Budget 2025, the fintech sector stands at a crucial juncture. Rural India, with its vast potential, holds the key to driving financial inclusion and economic growth. Expanding digital infrastructure in rural areas, empowering grassroots operators who deliver essential financial services, and introducing GST waivers for financial services at agent outlets are vital steps toward fostering inclusion. These measures will ease operational burdens and help bridge the urban-rural divide. With the right support, we can strengthen rural fintech and create a more inclusive and digitally empowered India. peoplematters.in/article/econom… #Budget2025 #Fintech #FinancialInclusion #DigitalIndia

The recent meeting on BCs, chaired by the Secretary-DFS, has ushered in a wave of optimism for the #BC ecosystem. With over 20 lakh Transaction BCs playing a pivotal role in financial inclusion, the discussions signal a shift towards greater efficiency, innovation, and fairness. One of the standout developments is the proposal for a simplified and modular certification process. This initiative, supported by financial ecosystem envisions a future where BC agents can access #online, #video-based training and #certification aligned with the services they offer. This not only reduces complexity but also empowers BCs to upskill with ease, fostering a more capable and confident workforce. #Technology-driven solutions like Face-ID-based #Aadhaar services are also set to redefine the BC landscape. Moving away from cumbersome biometric systems, this approach promises a seamless, cost-effective, and secure method for identity verification. The directive for PSU banks to implement this by March 31, 2025, reflects a clear commitment to progress and innovation. Equally important is the forward movement on addressing cybercrime-related challenges. The decision to limit liens to fraudulent amounts instead of freezing entire Corporate BC accounts marks a step toward a fairer and more practical approach. While further discussions will refine the process, this initial resolution is a testament to the shared determination to protect and empower BCs. Looking ahead, the proposal to transition from annual physical audits to digital monitoring stands as a game-changer. A committee led by the #SBI MD will chart the path forward, signaling a future where operational oversight becomes smarter, faster, and less burdensome for BCs. We welcome the Department of Financial Services’ initiative to revisit and overhaul the terms of engagement with BCs, addressing critical issues such as remuneration, viability incentives, and support mechanisms for those operating in remote regions. Strengthening these foundational aspects is key to sustaining the invaluable contributions of BCs to financial inclusion. These strides reflect a renewed focus on collaboration, #innovation, and #inclusivity. With these changes on the horizon, the BC industry is poised to thrive, driving deeper financial inclusion and fostering greater resilience across communities. The journey ahead looks brighter than ever.

It’s good to see that the pressing concerns impacting Business Correspondents (BCs) are being actively addressed. BCs play a crucial role in connecting rural and semi-urban communities with formal banking services, empowering millions with access to essential financial tools. Their contributions are invaluable, and it’s heartening to see these efforts aimed at supporting them. By modernizing commission structures, equipping BCs with skills and tools to diversify their services, and fostering sustainable business models, we can unlock their full potential and ensure their continued growth and success. With over 96 Digital Banking Units complementing the BC network, the opportunities for transformative progress are immense. Supporting BCs is not just about advancing financial inclusion—it’s about empowering livelihoods, strengthening rural economies, and building a more inclusive India. Every step we take today lays the foundation for a brighter tomorrow for millions. #FinancialInclusion #Empowerment #InclusiveGrowth #BusinessCorrespondents #BuildingIndia

It was an absolute privilege to participate in the launch of the WSFx Student Pay Global Card in Mumbai and engage in a panel discussion alongside industry leaders Abhinav Dasgupta (Sr. Director, Visa), Madhusudan (Founder, M2P), and Ramesh Venkatraman (Chairman & Non-Executive Director, WSFx). Our discussion on Emerging Trends in the International Student Payment Ecosystem highlighted the transformative power of technology in shaping global financial services, particularly in remittances and card-based solutions. Key insights from the discussion: -$100 Billion in Inbound Remittances: India’s annual remittance inflows serve as a lifeline for millions. Technology is driving efficiency, security, and accessibility in these transactions, especially for #rural communities. -Visa Cards Driving Financial Inclusion: Secure, cashless transactions enabled by #Visa are empowering people in even the most remote areas, helping them participate actively in the #digital economy. -Students Leading the Way: Today’s students, as digital natives, effortlessly adopt and navigate advanced #financial technologies. This generational shift emphasizes the need to extend similar ease of access to financial services for all Indians, no matter where they are. This panel discussion reaffirmed my belief in the critical role of #technology in reshaping global financial ecosystems while driving financial inclusion across India. By leveraging innovative solutions and collaborative efforts, we can ensure that everyone, regardless of location, is part of this transformative journey. youtube.com/watch?v=2APSa5…

The RBI’s latest move is a game-changer for digital payments in India. By allowing fully KYC-compliant prepaid wallets to link with UPI through third-party apps, it’s breaking down barriers that once limited access and interoperability. This isn’t just about making payments easier—it’s about enabling participation. For millions across rural Bharat, where banking infrastructure is sparse, this decision bridges a critical gap. It empowers users, connects communities, and strengthens the backbone of our digital economy. As I see it, this is a moment of transformation. It’s the kind of innovation that takes us closer to a Bharat where every individual, regardless of geography, has access to the opportunities a digital-first economy brings. Let’s keep building, let’s keep bridging. #UPI #DigitalPayments #FinancialInclusion #BridgingBharat
