Huge thanks to Alistair Speedie for 20 years as Chair of the Timber Transport Forum. The Forum works as a partnership with the industry & local authorities to manage timber transport issues. Alistair is stepping down with Jason Hubert of @scotforestry taking up the role.

Restrictions on the felling and movement of timber from demarcated areas in Scotland affected by the tree disease Phytophthora pluvialis were lifted on 24th January 2023. This move follows research which showed that the risk of the disease spreading via timber material is low.

The event will be held online by the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight on 12th-14th December 2022. This year’s workshop will focus on resilient transitions to net zero freight transport systems.

The 9th International Workshop on Sustainable Road Freight will focus on ways to improve the sustainability of freight transport, particularly those related to the factors shaping the net zero transition process.

New rules on how the DVSA categorises vehicle defects in roadside checks came into effect on the 1st of September. Updates include changes to the assessment of the load security section.
