Officially Head Coach of the 5U Blue Jays in the Julington Creek Rec division. Hopefully these VPKers know percentages because we are going to get 1% better every day (twice a week actually)

Fall ball’s about done, which means it’s transfer season again. Time to watch dads get mad their ‘superstar’ ain’t starting at short like back in 10U, so they switch schools ‘for religious reasons’—just to pay tuition for him to sit the bench somewhere new.

Conway Regional Coastal Carolina (48-11 RPI 8) - CCU is insanely good. Personally I think they kind of got hosed not being a top 8 national seed but anyways. 26-4 in SBC play won regular season title & SBCT tournament title. 18 game win streak. They’ve beat Clemson twice, beat NC, K St, etc. Only lost one series all season. 24-3 at home, 15-9 Q1-2 & 33-2 Q3-4. 66 SOS. Omaha caliber team imo. - They don’t necessarily hit for HR power but they got guys that can get on base. Caden Bodine .333 average, 3HRs, 36RBIs, Sebastian Alexander .301 average, 9HRs, & 47RBIs, Blake Barthol .282 average, 12 HRs, & 49 RBIs, Walker Mitchell .286 average, 39 RBIs are some guys to watch. Bodine also has draw 44 walks. They can steal some bases as well. Alexander has 25, Wells Skyes has 15, & Barthol has 12. - Pitching is where they win games. Jacob Morrison is one of the best pitchers in the country. 11-0 record, 1.90 ERA, 84Ks good luck against him. Riley Elkhoff 6-2 record, 3.19 ERA, & 58Ks and Cameron Flukey 6-1 record 3.28 ERA, & 92 Ks are going to be really hard to get runs off of as well. Ryan Lynch is also nearly unhittable out of the pen 0.61 ERA on 25 appearances. There’s numerous other bullpen pitchers with sub 3.00 ERAs. Florida (38-20 RPI 17) - Florida is really talented they’ve had some injuries coming down the stretch but to end the season 15-15 in SEC play after their start is just insanity. This is another Omaha caliber team if they get the right draws playing at their best right now. 18-19 in Q1-2 games 20-1 in Q3-4. SOS 3. - In the lineup guys ready to go like Bobby Boser .330 average, 16HRs, & 61 RBIs, Brendan Lawson .301 average, 9 HRs, & 57RBIs, Brody Donay .315 average, 17 HRs, & 38RBIs, Hayden Yost .271 average & 36 RBIs. I would assume Colby Shelton .377 average 7HRs, & 35RBIs will play but it’s not been announced that I’m aware of yet. - Pitching wise Aidan King 6-2, 2.76 ERA, & 72Ks & Liam Patterson 8-3, 4.10 ERA, & 95Ks are both elite arms to start. Jack Clemente, Jackson Barberi, Luke McNeillie, Caden McDonald, etc can all be very good arms out of the pen with some big time strikeout ability. East Carolina (33-25 RPI 66) - ECU didn’t have the regular season they’ve been used to in Greenville they went 13-14 had some bad losses at the beginning of the year but when Cliff Godwin is your coach you of course make the postseason. The Pirates won the AAC tournament and got the big. So this is the year they probably make some noise when you don’t expect it right? 56 SOS. 2-8 in Q1 but like I said they are playing their best ball right now. - Names in the lineup to watch include, Braden Burress .392 average, 4HRs, & 29RBIs, Dixon Williams .296, 13HRs, 48 RBIs, Austin Irby .277 average, 9HRs, & 43 RBIs and Colby Wallace .276 average, 10 HRs, & 40 RBIs. - Pitching staff wise Ethan Young is elite 5-0, 3.64 ERA, & 87Ks. So is Ethan Norby with 109Ks, 3.81 ERA, and a 7-5 record. Sean Jenkins and Ian White Jr are two Freshman arms to watch. Bullpen does get a little inconsistent so they will need guys to step up especially if they play 4 games in this regional. Opposing teams will need to get deep in their pen. Fairfield (39-17 RPI 74) - Interesting team won the MAAC tournament title to get in. Went 21-8 in the MAAC. They started conference play really good then got cold toward the end of the season and then got hot again in their conference tournament. Haven’t played a Q1 game all season. They are 37-13 in Q3-4. SOS 214. - They steal bases Matt Bucciero has 21, Dean Ferrara has 20, TJ Schmalzle has 19, and TJ Nomura has 16. Nomura also bats .331 with 14 HRs. Ferrara bats .381 with 8HRs, & Bucciero bats .351 with 14HRs. - Ben Alekson has 78Ks and 9 wins and a 3.24 ERA, Bowen Baker has a 3.20 ERA, 64Ks, & 8 wins, and Kyler Lesler has 51Ks and 5 wins. This is possibly the deepest regional there is. You know CCU fans will pack Brooks out but this regional is going to very tough. Extremely hyped for this one.

@BrentASJax Last year, I was able to sneak a diet coke into a Beachside baseball game. @CoachSmitty904 can attest, possibly the best high school performance ever. The popo there are legit!

I'm not sure this will go anywhere but I'll try it. Inspired by the Alex Lodise moment, what is the best high school performance you've seen - we will open it to any sport. Answers (if I get any) tomorrow on No Gate Fees at 2pm. Hopefully, there are some baseball/softball answers.
