So Rigney's untimely death not only robbed us of literate Mat, but also this level of care in overseeing the adaptation of the Wheel of Time.
*Of course nothing but appreciation for Sanderson for finishing the series. He did better than anyone else would have.

Any big Sando original fans have thoughts about this? I petered out partway through Stormlight and was super optimistic about Prime's WoT, so I'm not a great judge.

@EsotericaThe Butcher did this well in Summer Knight, which had an overarching plot that wasn't just Harry's grief. Hell even Ghost Story, which I think is underrated, had more than Harry's grief. The plot here was just background noise and likely prep for Mirror, Mirror.

Nah. We needed to gear shift down after battlegrounds. Sit with what happened and reset. This did that a lot more successfully than ghost story. This is probably in my top 5 Dresden books, because I really connected with the grief stuff. I don't expect this will be most folks favorite, but it did what was needed well.

Is it just me or was Twelve Months navel-gazy and one of the weakest books in the series? Feels very transitional/slog-like. #DresdenFiles

@TwoMovement On the third hand the delay is prophetically necessary; but that’s always a minefield to stick your nose down.

@larilille Nope. Books. Rand takes months to get to Toman Head by portal stone because Verin gives him incomplete or incorrect information, or because his control sucks.

My understanding is that 12 Hours was done like 14 months ago and that the publishing company was holding it for release until the appropriate fiscal quarter.
I think in the interview he said he wanted the draft of Mirror Mirror out of his hands by like March 20th of 2026. So 4 months.
And in fairness in the long stretch between books, he got divorced, had life threatening dental surgery, got remarried, wrote The Olympian Affair, and helped his son write a few books. So it's not like he's been doing nothing 😂

Just finished the EF5 bickering in the ways over Rand's and Egwene's romantic interests while separated. The book's teen relationship is way more entertaining than the show's adult one. #WheelOfTime
