@UCalgary is 60 years old! Follow along as we journey through the archives. MacKimmie Block/Library holds a special place in campus history as the university's first library. Opening its doors in 1963, it became the intellectual heart of the university alongside MacKimmie Tower.

As the 2026 Winter Olympics draw to a close, we can’t help but reminisce. Created for the 1988 Winter Olympics by artists Colette Whiten & Paul Kipps with support from Diamond Schmitt architects, this bronze & steel sculpture stood at the gateway to the Athlete’s Village.
