Mr. Aldeza will work on his thesis on the effect of social isolation on the mental health of older Filipinos at the Australian National University (ANU), under the mentorship of Dr. Grace T. Cruz (UPPI) and Assoc. Prof. Collin F. Payne, PhD (ANU).

Mr. Militante will conduct his thesis on cardiometabolic multimorbidity among older Filipinos at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) under the supervision of Dr. C Joy Cruz (UPPI) and Dr. Angela Chang (SDU).

Vice Rector Stephane Leyens of the University of Namur (UNamur) paid a courtesy visit to UPPI and OIL at UP Diliman on March 11, 2026. The visit highlights the ongoing Erasmus+ Mobility Agreement (2024–2027) between UPPI and UNamur.

The UP Population Institute (UPPI), in collaboration with UP Department of Geography, organized a lecture on environmental migration led by Dr. Sabine Henry from the University of Namur, Belgium, on March 10, 2026.

Dr. Dujardin discussed how the analysis of geolocated social media data can be used to understand population dynamics & contribute to building population resilience. Participants gained hands-on experience processing datasets using R & Python by generating topic maps from X data.
