Sunday's attack by Russia on many civilian targets in Lviv Oblast was the largest ever in western Ukraine. Seven hours of pure hell delivered by 500 drones and dozens of hypersonic missiles, many of which were destroyed by Ukrainian defenses. I toured many of these sites today, including a partially destroyed kindergarten and other structures. And we walked among the ruins of a few homes in a suburb of Lviv. A 15 year old girl and her entire family ki**ed in their sleep. 📷There in the rubble, mixed in with the toys, pieces of furniture and a twisted baby carriage frame were the metal shards of a Russian missile. America must stand strong with this young, extraordinary democracy that is fighting a tyrant on Europe's eastern front. Please insist that Congress provide whatever support Ukraine needs as they fight a war that is our war , too. And help Ukraine's children directly by contributing to UCAP.help

We return to Ukraine next week - our 8th visit - to check on some of the dozens of projects supporting the needs of children impacted by the war. Millions have and are suffering from psychological trauma and/or prolonged disruption of their education. About 3,000 kids have been killed or injured and 20,000 abducted by Russia. Yet the country fights on. The bravery & resilience of Ukrainians is extraordinary. More than that, they cherish their democracy, their culture, their ability to create and innovate. Ukraine is a young vibrant democracy on the rise. But, so very sadly, America feels like a democracy on the decline with division, violence and a growing disrespect for Constitutional principles everywhere we look.
