a new UI “skin” is actually a genius move for everyone who likes strive’s current look and also anyone who wants the old school flair

So common and accepted, that even squeaky clean Nintendo's Paper Mario features such a character in The Thousand Year Door. The remake tones the vendor down both Eng & Jpn to be less offensive

@CertifiedTrash9 @HoodedMask They basically made her the only character who struggles to communicate with other characters, which is portrayed by her having incredibly broken speech and also gave her some questionable interactions with other characters that were hard to justify by language/culture barrier

@22Kingmaxx @aswordofsoap @Soraismyson Another issue is they do a lot of rotoscope (e.g. Dizzy and Leo) which would look incredibly unprofessional with different models swapped with differing proportions. It's a trade off on how professional and clean they want the game to look (compare it to SFV for example.)

@22Kingmaxx @aswordofsoap @Soraismyson The issue has always been that animating the bones takes a *lot* of individual work and most have non-standard animating quirks that don't lend themselves to easy reproduction with no issues. It was always possible, especially simple stuff swapping sword models.

Ive never seen an arcsys game outside of versus have costumes marvel what are you giving them

@WukongMods @blankspotato Arcsys has been pretty good about these things overall, with the exception of regional pricing issues which seems to plague every company right now. Reducing the price of the game, frequent sales, bundles that reduce DLC price. A battle pass is a modestly unfair price to pay

@blankspotato crazy how the big fighting game titles like sf6 and tekken have shit passes and it is arcsys so they are more likely to copy their own game model when making these passes not copy street fighter

People who play granblue know this actually has the potential to be sick ive glazed gbvsr battle passes for ever colors,music,weapons and skins but nobody knows cus nobody give gb a chance

@FritesMayo76 @TheIshikawaRin Do we know that though? I can easily imagine it's true, but I think we need to wait for more info; which to be fair is also true for a lot of things. Sometimes passes aren't a temp thing Who knows, maybe the patch will suck shit wholesale (entirely possible, probably inevitable)

@TheIshikawaRin @UnintelGen And to add to the bad points it's time locked content. Don't play enough to get the skin or cosmetic you want during the period and you have paid the pass for nothing.

They're adding live-service monetisation to Guilty Gear Strive, a game that already has really expensive DLC character packs... man.

@TheIshikawaRin I'd have more of a problem with it if it actually barred useful content, like a free to play game would do. I know it's the most obvious slippery slope, but a small chunk of change for some cosmetics and a skinner box to incentivize actually playing the game... isn't the worst

@UnintelGen I think FOMO battle passes being added to a game people paid a good chunk of money for and its DLC as well is pretty bad. Battle passes only really have a place in free to play titles like Fortnite. Call of Duty is the worst offender in this example and that's a $70 game.

@TheIshikawaRin I mean, if you're getting in early you're a sucker. But everyone whose bought a fighting game already knows that. (I am that sucker)

@TheIshikawaRin I want to be clear I don't like it either. But in terms of them doing "the evil thing", that is, what every other company is doing, they're doing in the least evil way. In addition, they keep lowering the bar to entry (base game dropped to 40, bundle editions that give every dlc)

@Bocchi_Rock_FGC Finally, Guilty Gear -Strive- releases April 9th, 2026. Weird we haven't had a Guilty gear game in nearly ten years, but I'm glad it's back

Im so fucking excited for 2.0 guys. I want Strive to last SO long and we're getting SO MUCH STUFF and the overall player experience looks like its a lot better. Cannot wait to see what else is in store

I've gotten what I think is my best option until some proton fixes come out. Still has wonky judders during cutscenes it seems, but it'll have to do.

For #DeathStranding2 day, I naturally did what every hardened Linux btw gamer would do: Helplessly thrash about while trying every configuration ever for hours instead of actually playing. Just like God intended. That, and photo mode. Because the photo mode kicks ass

@saladinskull As much as I don't necessarily care for games copying cinema debates, I always hoped more games would try non-standard aspect ratios including cinema widescreen, one of the only other games to try (before they backpedaled somewhat) was The Evil Within

@LarceniasAbyss @saladinskull whoops, rethought it- realized the bars would have to be left/right the screen can't get wider. Also, there's a minor bug (maybe linux only) where setting the resolution and a certain fullscreen setting will double up and stretch the image imagine a very wide norman reedus

@LarceniasAbyss @saladinskull cutscenes are framed for only up to 21:9, any higher a ratio will add black bars on cutscenes (though I don't know if horz or vert- I assume bars are top/bottom)

The new update for Death Stranding 2 lets you use the wide-screen mode even if you don't have a wide-screen display With quality mode also the graphics look insane
