3 Ways to Get Out of the Resume Poverty Trap youtu.be/GMlyJOl-U-A?si… via @YouTube #executive #career #story

There's something about the determination of a Scottie leaning into his instincts with all the passion that his little muscular body can muster.
Imbued by confidence and without distraction or doubt, he bobs and bends as his his paws repeatedly plunge into the clay soil. He digs and digs with the clarity of vision knowing that on the other side is the prize.
His tirelessness resounds amid the blank canvas of the day, amid the heretofore undeveloped Missouri Ozarks field of dreams.
It is in this moment I realize this little Scottish Terrier's zeal is a metaphor for life and work and the landscape that surrounds us. We're often intimidated by the rugged vastness or left deterred by the required energy needed to really dig into our goals and dreams.
But then, something--or someone--ignites a spark, compels us to move, to heave our whole selves into the process. We're suddenly (or not so suddenly) seeing more clearly--our vision sharpened and our minds and bodies activated forward, with the inspired motion that renews our possibility, and refuels our faith.

@FelixNater I agree; it tears at my heart, but like you, I'm working towards the better future (well said!). And, I believe, ultimately, the light will win over the darkness. 🕯️

@ValueIntoWords It is so sad living through such extreme times. I am working towards the better future.

To those who hate 🇺🇸”I'm proud to be an American. Where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died. Who gave that right to me. And I'd gladly stand up next to you. And defend Her still today. ‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land. God Bless the U.S.A. 🇺🇸

As we wrapped up a momentum-fueling zoom conversation today, the COO client I was 'interviewing' said, with a certain emphatic jubilance:
"I feel so confident now."
These words not only gave me an endorphin lift, but they also reminded me the value of the executive career storytelling process beyond the end-result, aka, 'resume' deliverable! It's also about shoring up one's confidence, especially amid the seas of oft-turbulent transition.
Thank you to all my clients, from emerging leaders to C-suite executives, for all you do to exhilarate the career writing strategy, and to remind ME of the value of career storytelling!

💪 What girds you for the day? 💪
For me it's my time in nature, a 2-mile walk followed by a 20- or 30-minute strength workout.
I've been hearing a lot from clients lately about the rigors of their careers. I hope that they and anyone else engaging here can find a way to gird themselves for the day.
I hear things such as, 'My current situation is really tough, even untenable at times, but going through the Career Storytelling worksheet helped remind me of who I was in better times.
All that I've accomplished and how much I used to like my job. This worksheet helped put things in perspective as I pursue a opportunity - a new role to reinvigorate my energy and joy.'
I also hear of clients who wish they'd started the rese process sooner or who now are requesting I accelerate the writing.
Unfortunately, I generally need to push back on that because of a) the time, energy and focus it takes to do the career storytelling writing strategy right; and b) other projects that are ahead of theirs in the writing queue.
The good news is, once the resume story is complete, it is an opportunity for another reach out touch point with their network.
Moreover, hiring is an elongated process and usually there is ample opportunity to keep the conversation alive even after an initial reach out.
--
Bottom line, we are all working to keep our postures aligned, our energy fueled and our attitudes string, yet gentle and nimble amid the undulating economic and #career landscape!
