Life of a Gen Z male: > College degree is worthless > Always in debt > Rent is more than half your paycheck > AI is replacing your job > Never will be able to afford a house > WW3 may start > Impossible to get a girlfriend > Boomers saying “just work harder.” > No time to just enjoy life

#1 Algorithms That Run the World The algorithm that decides whether a number is prime. It sounds small. It’s not. Prime numbers are the backbone of modern cryptography. Every secure website, every online payment, every encrypted message… depends on them. For decades, one question haunted computer scientists: > Can we check if a number is prime > quickly, deterministically, and always correctly? No randomness. No probability. No “probably prime.” Just certainty. Then in 2002, three researchers from IIT Kanpur changed everything: Manindra Agrawal Neeraj Kayal Nitin Saxena Their paper: “PRIMES is in P” They proved something groundbreaking: 👉 Prime checking can be done in polynomial time 👉 Deterministically 👉 With a simple, elegant algorithm This became known as the AKS primality test. No assumptions. No shortcuts. Just pure mathematics. The impact? • Strengthened the theoretical foundations of cryptography • Proved a decades-old open problem wrong • Showed that elegance can beat complexity And the craziest part, One of the authors was a 21-year-old undergraduate student. The internet runs on ideas like this. Quiet. Invisible. Foundational. Most people will never hear about them. But without them nothing works. Follow for more: Algorithms That Run the World ⚙️
