The deadline for Justice Alexandre de Moraes to respond in the Rumble/Trump Media case expired yesterday. No appearance. No request for more time. The Government of Brazil did appear to argue sovereignty and clarified it did not appear for Moraes. Its own filing says it raises the defense “on its own behalf exclusively,” and its lawyers identify themselves as counsel for the Federative Republic of Brazil, not counsel for Moraes. To argue Brazilian sovereignty while Moraes simultaneously violates U.S. laws is the right of the Government of Brazil. The federal court in Florida will hear those arguments in due course.

Russia’s attacks on Kyiv’s Pershka Lavra are deplorable. Attacks like this are why I have announced sanctions to target the vessels, the money and the actors propping up Russia’s war economy, and in turn, threatening European security. We will increase the pressure on Putin and his circle of collaborators until Russia’s war machine is brought to a halt and peace returns to our continent.
