It's both Mothers' Day and the semifinals/finals for Washington Youth Soccer's girls state championships this weekend. Have a look at these 2003 state winners, some who now might very well be moms themselves. #TBT

Fifty years ago professional soccer first came to The City of Destiny. Booth Gardner's striped Tacoma Tides played one glorious season at Cheney Stadium, making the ASL playoffs and many memories before dissolving. #TBT

Those who love our game and love our state and love how the game has taken root in our state, you will want to pick up a copy of Sunday's (April 26) Seattle Times. Then you will have this story to have and to hold, even when the wifi is on the fritz. seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-mag…

We would like to thank Mayor Birney, her City of Redmond staff and particularly Kristen Raftis for hosting our own Frank MacDonald and Matt Pentz for the April 15 Fútbol for All program. A great turnout, and there are two upcoming May programs in this series. Check it out.

The green, green grass awaits the return of the Reign this Sunday, and our first opportunity to celebrate them home, in Seattle. And for the 14th and final season, a "tiny Welsh Dragon" shall lead them. #TBT

It will be the same matchup and pretty much same address, but when the Sounders host St. Louis on Saturday the surface (grass) and ceiling (no longer concrete) will be much different than 50 years ago. #TBT

When people think 'Redmond' and 'soccer,' Sixty Acres or Marymoor come to mind. By adding 'history' to that equation, Google will likely direct you to Wed. night's free Fútbol for All Speaker Series at Redmond Senior & Community Center. Join Matt Pentz & Frank MacDonald at 6 p.m.

Today, April 9, marks the 50th anniversary of Seattle breaking the North American soccer attendance record. A capacity crowd of 58,218 watched the Kingdome's first sporting event, a friendly featuring the Sounders & Cosmos. Pelé (pic) would score twice in New York's 3-1 win. #TBT

Root Sports Northwest fell off the local channel grid on Jan. 1. At one time or another Root and its previous iterations – Northwest Cable Sports, Prime Sports Northwest and Fox Sports Northwest – is where you could catch a college or pro soccer game, as this 1989 ad depicts.#TBT

Although their league expired some 11 years before the NBA left Seattle, the SeaDogs owned just as many championships as the Sonics. At one time the Sonics, SeaDogs and Storm were all operated by the Ackerley family under the Full House Entertainment umbrella. #TBT
