State Treasurer Larry Pack today released the following statement after a fatal chemical spill in the Institute area of Kanawha County on Wednesday: “The chemical emergency at the Catalyst Refiners plant in Institute was a terrible tragedy,” Treasurer Pack said. “My condolences and prayers go out to the families of those affected by this incident. I am grateful for our local first responders and emergency personnel who worked to keep our citizens safe.”

On Monday, Treasurer Pack spoke at the West Virginia Treasury's Banking Services Conference which provides three days of industry-focused sessions for bankers, accountants, and financial services professionals as well as networking opportunities for peers and leaders. Earlier today, Treasurer Pack presented a nearly $2,000 check to the Clarksburg Police Department for selling 15 firearms during our February online firearms auction. Police Chief Mark Kiddy said the money will be used to buy additional equipment for members of the police department.

Treasurer Pack released the following statement after the passing of former West Virginia Congressman David McKinley: “West Virginia has lost a true statesman and patriot. Congressman McKinley laid the groundwork for the modern West Virginia Republican Party and always fought for our state’s values in the State Legislature and the United States Congress,” Treasurer Pack said. “My heart goes out to his wife, Mary, and his family during this time. I will treasure our many conversations over the years. He leaves behind an incredible legacy and will be truly missed.”

While in Summersville last week, Treasurer Pack met with Backpacks 4 Veterans a group dedicated to supporting homeless veterans with essential resources. Thanks for having us!

Last Friday, Treasurer Pack attended and spoke at the opening of the new Green's Supply Depot Ripley. They have been providing outdoor supplies and building products to West Virginia and the Mid-Ohio Valley for over 50 years and we're glad they are investing more into West Virginia!

While in Cabell County last week, Treasurer Pack attended the The Village of Barboursville City Council meeting which honored the promotions several officers of the Barboursville Police Department and also talked to local officials about the new projects coming to the area. Special thanks to Mayor Chris Tatum and the rest of the Village of Barboursville for having us!

State Treasurer Larry Pack, who serves as Chairman of the Hope Scholarship Board, today announced that more than 20,000 students have applied for full funding of the Hope Scholarship Program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
