Virginia Giuffre's civil complaint named 17 men. Eight were given pseudonyms by the court. Seven of the pseudonyms were later unredacted. One remains sealed. His identity was never revealed in open court.

This would be bad for our democracy and local civic culture but, I must admit, a piece of me hopes he tries it.

Say out loud which Republicans on your committee or otherwise think a woman who groomed 14 year old girls for Jeffrey Epstein should walk free. Comer’s other move is to stop holding real hearings so no one can be put under oath and no one can be held in contempt. Every member of Congress, every parent, every survivor deserves better than floating a pardon for a child sex trafficker and a committee hiding behind roundtables. This is not oversight. This is a disgrace.

@reggiescollege You blame the City Council for the Mayor’s failure to implement the budget that the Council passed & the Mayor signed? The Council is responsible for its own decision-making. You can’t hold the Council accountable for unethical decision-making entirely w/in the Mayor’s purview.

@W_R_Emory But didn’t the people of Minneapolis vote for exactly this? A stronger mayoral office? Seems to me that the city council of the last 6 years dug its own grave on this one.

The thing I need the people of Mpls to understand is that Mayor Frey and MAK are increasingly ignoring the Council approved budget and spending money however they want. While the City Council’s Audit Committee lacks independent legal counsel, they have little recourse. (1/3)

@smburns My point being, FDR was far from infallible, and sometimes downright wrong. He was wrong about Japanese-Americans and he was wrong about public sector workers.

FDR is one of my heroes. I agree with his view that public sector unions are harmful. All levels of Minnesota government need major realignment of the workforce. When every $ spent on your job comes out of your neighbor’s pocket, performance and efficiency are essential.

The Mpls City Council needs independent legal counsel to seek judicial intervention to keep administration within the bounds of the legislature’s lawfully enacted budget. Mpls needs to restore a system of checks and balances in the wake of the strong mayor amendment. (3/3)

Currently, the attorney for the City Council is the Mayor-appointed City Attorney. The Mayor’s Attorney will never advise the Council to sue the Mayor for improperly enacting the budget. (2/3)
