Finally seeing the bigger picture(shadow getting smaller), the flower (love) getting crushed through forced detachment, yet the aftereffect remains as the thorns (pain) still piercing even when the petals (feelings) have disappeared Hyunjin writes so metaphorically

So many layers to that line alone. Spring could be rebirth, joy, hope. Before spring there comes winter bearing coldness and pain. The regret of being trapped in an endless winter, unable to give the warmth of a new beginning.
