2022 vs. 2026 - bearish fractal or structural bottom? Are we repeating the 2022 fractal, slow chop followed by one final leg down and capitulation, or is crypto transitioning into a stronger bullish structure? I don’t think it makes sense to rely on the assumption that a past fractal will repeat and give us significantly lower entry prices. Instead, it’s reasonable to assume that we may already be forming a solid accumulation range here, one that offers a good opportunity to start positioning gradually. Those operating with a clear framework can also choose patience: waiting through the summer and largely doing nothing until liquidity and upside momentum clearly return. Bearish Case - Summers historically bring low liquidity and slow momentum. - Current price action still resembles the 2022 distribution and breakdown pattern. - Market structure allows for one final flush to complete a classic cycle reset. - Persistent uncertainty keeps sentiment fragile, ideal conditions for a late capitulation event. - Equities trading at or near all time highs. Bullish Case - Institutional adoption of stablecoin infrastructure continues accelerating. - Increasing regulatory clarity, with a lighter clarity act type framework already being hinted at by the SEC. - Most altcoins sit on multi year trends and have already undergone severe drawdowns. - Market cap experienced roughly a 50% retrace, historically a major reset zone (BTC $1.2T retrace). - Multiple momentum and macro indicators remain deeply oversold. In the end, liquidity and sentiment are what truly matter, and both take time to rebuild before markets can transition back into euphoria and confidence. It’s a classic cycle rotation. Possible approach Scale DCA orders around key levels, respecting the possibility of a bearish summer structure. Stay partially positioned, as current prices already offer historically attractive entries (BTC ETH SOL). Long term crypto cycle bulls benefit from time based positioning after a harsh correction, not perfect timing, boring accumulation range would be the best case. So ideally, volatility provides deeper accumulation opportunities, allowing stronger positioning before the next expansion phase. The underlying dynamic is simple: from experience and within a structured framework, one expects another expansion phase to eventually emerge. Short term setups only after a downtrend BO + higher lows (bullish momentum) on different coins, structure doesn't look too bad here, bottoming out after a huge selloff, patience and discipline (beyond BTC ETH SOL, eying ZRO AAVE LINK PUMP PENGU HYPE TAO). Protect your capital, but don’t get too comfortable sitting entirely in cash. At least on the next larger pullback, ideally somewhere near the 60k region again, a solid DCA entry opportunity could emerge. I wouldn’t necessarily chase price at current levels, to be honest. But any move toward the 45k BTC area would be highly attractive for stronger capital allocation, with a primary focus on BTC, ETH, and SOL. Short term outlook The coming weeks will likely determine whether price pushes into resistance and gets rejected from there, or manages to establish strength beyond it. From that point, trading plans can still be adjusted, especially for short term trades, by watching whether we break and sustain acceptance above resistance, or continue showing weakness and chop lower instead. Personally, I would only look to enter new setups heading into summer if the first scenario plays out, a clear breakout above resistance followed by a small retrace that holds structure and establishes higher lows. Why? For me, the most important thing is that if the structure flips (probably 81k+ BTC) and everything aligns, it’s perfectly fine to scale into significantly larger positions to ride bullish momentum upward. That’s ultimately what trading is about. We’re not trying to catch the absolute bottom, the goal is to protect our capital and only allocate when it makes sense based on experience, gut feeling, and structural context, while also aiming to capture profits over the coming weeks and months. At the end of the day, we always need to keep one thing in mind: there will be new trading opportunities for the rest of our lives. Our capital should remain protected until opportunities clearly fit into our trading framework. That way, we can grow it when the setup is right, instead of taking on unnecessary risk through frantic overtrading or impatience the moment we feel a short term pull to act. $BTC (1W)
