I think we're all misunderstanding Memeland's art remake. Most people think they're just making better NFT art. That's not the case. Let's stay calm and look at the following points: 1/ Most NFT PFP collections don't need many artists; they only need 1 or 2 to complete a collection in 3-6 months. However, Memeland has hired and replaced many artists over the past 2 years for this project. 2/ Why did it take so long to redesign the art? They spent 2 years on this, which is something that no other project in Web3 has ever done. 3/ Why, when redesigning, even though it was only a draft, was it not a typical PFP model and didn't seem suitable for PFP? 4/ Why is it an anime-style PFP but now it's collaborating with big AAA game studios like Overwatch and Diablo? 5/ Memeland also had some game-related keywords when participating in GameOn 2023 and partnered with some esport teams in 2024. 6/ Their trademark for Captainz covers Class 041, Memeland claims the trademark for: "Entertainment services, namely, providing virtual environments in which users can interact for recreational, leisure or entertainment purposes." This confirms that THE CAPTAINZ trademark is future-proofed for metaverse-style experiences or game-like virtual worlds even if they're not building a full game. 7/ Ray once said that it's very possible that they can integrate with games. From all of the above, what hypotheses can you draw? My hypothesis is: i/ Memeland could be preparing its characters to interoperate with multiple game ecosystems. Think: > Fortnite skins > Interoperable IP usable across digital platforms Just like Pudgy Penguins took physical toys into Target and Walmart, Memeland may be taking its digital characters into game worlds. To be honest, when I look at this art, it immediately reminds me of League of Legends. ii/ They're Building a Cinematic or Game-Linked Media IP Alternatively or in parallel — Memeland may be developing a media-first strategy: > A cinematic trailer, or webtoon > A story-first universe like Arcane (LoL) or Cyberpunk: Edgerunners This explains why the art doesn't work just as PFPs. It's designed for cinematic trailers, game cutscenes, and animated series. Conclusion: The Captainz art remake isn't about better NFTs. It's about creating the foundation for a 10-year entertainment empire that happens to start with Web3. For holders, Captainz NFTs become equity stakes in an entertainment IP rather than just digital collectibles. Value derives from gaming integration royalties, media licensing deals, cross-platform utility, and brand recognition across multiple industries. What do you think?
