If you are living in the #EuropeanUnion and think about your future, you should read this thread 🧵👇 #EU #Economic #Future WWII marks the end of European dominance and shifts power balance in the international system between the US and USSR. European reaction is creation of ECSC, later known as EC/EU. I appreciate the idea and I think of myslef as an European. I have family all over the Europe and my roots are in multiple European countries. In addition, my wife’s family is from completely different European country. The fact that Europe is struggling makes me genuinely sad. Let’s have a look at some #EU #Economic #Failures. 1. Europe has completely lost the Web2 battle. Sure, there are some companies such as $SAP, $SPOT that arecompetitive but the fact is that there is no European Google, Amazon or Microsoft. 2. There is also no European Apple. We have completely failed in transition from mobile phones - $NOK, $SI to smartphones. 3. I remember that @vonderleyen was pushing for the #EU to become a leader in #ArtificialIntelligence at the beginning of her mandate in late 2019, early 2020 but we were already miles behind the US and China… 4. The same goes for #EV battleground. Even though the EU plans to ban #ICE vehicles since 2035, our car manufacturers are not prepared for this transition. Sure, you can argue that VW group has relatively big market share but $TSLA and Chinese manifacturers are beating us. 5. Since I mentioned $TSLA, why don’t we have European @elonmusk? Love him or hate him, the guy has invented sick #EVs and is all about renewable energy, reducing traffic etc. The fact that we don’t have leader in this space while the EU pushes the agenda is embarrassing. 6. This brings us to energy dependence on Russia. Some member states have been closing nuclear plants and now, the very same MS are reinstating coal plants? What a joke. #Nuclear is one of the cleanest sources of energy… 7. Establishment of #Web3  was a huge chance for Europe not to make itself irrelevant in yet another emerging industry but it seems like 🇪🇺 have done it again. 8. At the same time, common agricultural policy (CAP) which benefits mainly industrial farms and big landowners still takes up third of EU’s MFF while there is only 7 billion euros for digitalisation programmes. We seriously need to reconsider how we are structuring our economies. The EU has incredibly complex regulatory frameworks compared to the US and other major economies. It is preventing start-ups from scaling up and leaving to other parts of the world. Europe is amazing culturally, historically, we have amazing food, wine, beer, amazing coastlines and skiing resorts BUT We are failing economically (and I haven’t even mentioned #ECB, debt of Southern Member States etc.) Let’s do something about it!

Today, I stepped down as CEO of Binance. Admittedly, it was not easy to let go emotionally. But I know it is the right thing to do. I made mistakes, and I must take responsibility. This is best for our community, for Binance, and for myself. Binance is no longer a baby. It is time for me to let it walk and run. I know Binance will continue to grow and excel with the deep bench it has. I’m pleased to announce that @_RichardTeng, our now former Global Head of Regional Markets, has been named the new CEO of Binance today. Richard is a highly qualified leader and, with over three decades of financial services and regulatory experience, he will navigate the company through its next period of growth. He will ensure Binance delivers on our next phase of security, transparency, compliance, and growth. Prior to joining Binance, Richard was CEO of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM); Chief Regulatory Officer of the Singapore Exchange (SGX); and Director of Corporate Finance in the Monetary Authority of Singapore. With Richard and the entire team, I’m confident that the best days for @Binance and the crypto industry lay ahead. As a shareholder and former CEO with historical knowledge of our company, I will remain available to the team to consult as needed, consistent with the framework set out in our U.S. agency resolutions. What’s next for me? I will take a break first. I have not had a single day of real (phone off) break for the last 6 and half years. On that note, I am proud to point out that in our resolutions with the U.S. agencies they: - do not allege that Binance misappropriated any user funds, and - do not allege that Binance engaged in any market manipulation. In the face of #Binance $4.3B settlement, I want to reiterate the old saying: “Not your keys, not your coins”. Always make sure you use exchanges just to exchange your fiat for #Crypto and then self-custody. You don’t walk into an exchange office when travelling and keep your money there…

I think that #OpenAI will still progress but not at the same pace as they did with Sam. Looking forward what @sama’s next move is or if there is possibility of him staying. Exciting weeks ahead.
