$AVGO Broadcom us now sitting at a forward P/E of 24.77- The lowest in the last few years with the exception of the 2025 tariff scare. The projected 3 to 5 YR EPS CAGR is 40%. Is $AVGO actually a no brainer at these prices?

@benjaminfelix Golds appeal is it is a hedge an against the money printing system we see today, and has interesting results when used to rebalance. I sent you a message of some backtest ideas. I think someone from Sprott would make for an interesting podcast. They are also based in Canada

@_dendolla I'd put gold in portfolios if I thought it made sense. There's no cost or lost revenue for a firm like PWL to do that. We don't use AVDV, but DFA600 (DFA Canadian Vector) has a ton of gold miner exposure. It has definitely benefitted from the recent gold price runup.

@iancassel Any advice on when to hold and when to sell? I find this question to be particularly tricky especially in a tax advantaged account.

During a lifetime you will have 10-20 big winners and hundreds or thousands that didn’t live up to your expectations. Long-term investing success is capturing those 10-20 monsters while also understanding 95% of what you own will deserve to be sold.

@benjaminfelix 2/2 that being said I actually think your suggested investment portfolios are more than enough exposure to gold through the mining companies in AVDV. For what it’s worth I view gold as an insurance policy and rebalancing tool for long periods of time.

@benjaminfelix 1/2 The data is valid just doesn’t tell the whole story is my criticism. I recognize you will likely never endorse gold because that comes at a cost in your line of work. But even tho we are not on a gold standard, gold still plays a role through federal balance sheets.

@benjaminfelix Fair, but the post itself is comparing the stock market returns to the price of gold. And when you consider the points I made I don’t think you can have a true one to one comparison through a chart like this.

What gets me very nervous for the market later this yr is anthropic, oai, space X ipos. That amount of supply has never hit the market in such a short time.. people will do a lot of selling to buy those which could hit a lot of stocks
