Look under the plastic pack . What number do you see? The number determines the suitability for microwaving. If the number is 2 it is microwave safe. Number 2 is also known as HDPE or high- density polyethylene. If the number is 5 it is also microwave safe. If the number is 6. Just scream Tufiakwa. It is unsafe. If the number is 1. Another Tufiakwa. That is also not safe to microwave. Like we say in Owerri. Na kwa echeki. If you microwave food in an unsuitable pack. Heat "breaks" the plastic's molecular structure allowing chemicals like phthalates or Bisphenol A (BPA) to "migrate" or leak directly into the food. These chemicals are known endocrine disruptors, which can interfere with hormonal balance if ingested over time. So be mindful. Let food remain food and not poison. ©️ Chukwuemeka Nwaolisa
