Definitely and I’m so sorry it happened to you. ❤️ It’s just a horrible feeling.
I understand that when people want something badly enough, it can be difficult to think rationally or even morally. I hope that whatever decision they make, they take the time to consider the consequences. Maybe they gain a better placement, but what might they lose in return? Friendship? Respect?
We all make mistakes and always will, but hopefully we can learn to avoid the ones that ultimately aren’t worth it.
Often I say to myself while I work with all types of customers, “Sometimes I need to run into a few bad ones to make me appreciate the good ones even more .”
You got this! Keep playing and surround yourself with good people.

On gentlemen’s agreements:
We’ve had conversations with our kids about when these situations can come up, the pros, the cons, but it’s not something we encourage. In the three years Kenji has played, he has entered into a gentlemen’s agreement three times. We usually find out after the match. In this case, with Beckett and Kenji, we had a feeling when we saw the handshake beginning of game three and was completely surprised by it.
After the match concluded, Beckett with no hesitation, honored that agreement and gave Kenji the win. A sincere thank you to Beckett and his family, @JoshuaLeeWarner for handling the situation with such grace and support.
In our time of competitive Pokémon, we’ve heard many unfortunate stories about gentlemen’s agreements in masters, but have yet to hear of a junior backing out of one. While we don’t promote these agreements, we are incredibly proud of these kids for honoring their word and showing respect to their opponents. There’s something powerful in that something even the older divisions can learn from: integrity matters.
Great work, Juniors.
And truly once again…thank you, Beckett.
Also, thank you to Prince and Annabelle.
