Zcash ZK-proofs are amazing. I'm thinking about writing a blind tic-tac-toe game that uses ZK-proofs. Players take turns placing an X or O, but cannot tell where the other player has gone unless a collision occurs. When 3 in a row is achieved, the win is declared with a proof.

@DanSimerman When you said "you" I guess I misinterpreted you to mean that I personally was in the news. Now I gather that you meant zcash, and I'm aware of that. But more is usually better.

I'm curious what zcash fans have against ZSAs. If it's that it detracts from ZEC, alright, I'll admit that. But it also increases its utility. And keeping ZEC exclusively as its own value is a lovely idea, if it worked. But the odds of zcash remaining the uniquely best privacy blockchain out there over time is nil (we already have forks). So the best thing we can do is add utility to our list of competitive edges. And if we can add privacy to wrapped coins on the zcash blockchain, that ought to put us in the news.

ZAI (oracle-free CDP flatcoin) is actually a concrete use case FOR ZSAs — it would need to be issued as a shielded asset. We've been simulating it extensively: 46 findings, 238 tests, zero bad debt across 6 real ZEC crash events including Black Thursday. I have two use cases in mind: yes, I'd like to shield my holdings of other crypto assets. That's one. The other is far more interesting to me: tokenizing real estate. We have a real identity theft problem in the States where people can steal your house and sell it without your consent or knowledge. I'd like to see all kinds of wealth and assets storeable on the blockchain without giving up privacy -- indeed, perhaps while winning better privacy. You're right of course, that people can fork the Zcash blockchain and add ZSAs there. And maybe that's the best thing. I don't want money transfer fees going up because the Zcash blockchain is busy doing too many jobs.

I personally bought in the zcash version of an improved version of bitcoin. And Zcash with Tachyon have a shot on goal to actually scale this for global use. Zcash would be the technology that finally solves the money problem that plagued civilizations, empires after empires. The downstream effects of “flawed monetary system” is massive. If only we have a way to address the root cause. And to learn to ZSA not only distract this vision, but also weakening the protocol security, which would dampens momentum - right around the time tachyon about to scale, and AI surveillance is taking off. And for what? Marginal gains with some extra fees from other assets trading privately? How about just swap those to Zec and trade, then swap back to the asset? So far, i have yet to see a convincing argument for ZSAs. And to push such an endeavour at this critical time, is rather irresponsible to be honest. If you have a strong case on why ZSAs really matter, then feel free to fork it and build. If it’s really good, people will come use it. If ZSAs really put the vision of “Immutable Money” as risk, right before it’s about to take shape - then it’s unacceptable. No matter how hard one worked on this, you can’t justify being so sure of yourself to potentially risk it this way.

@zkDragon Oh, certainly, certainly. I'm not arguing about priorities or order of development here. I agree several development areas are more important than ZSAs. I'm just curious about what people have against ZSAs on principle.

@Piratextremes Uh, no. Thanks for playing. ARRR is a fork that removed features. Last I checked it didn't have Orchard either, leaving it with trusted setup as the only option. Name a single feature that is "objectively superior" that doesn't involve removing user choice.

I'm aware of the ZCAP poll. How did those results compare to the coin weighted poll? Was there a 3rd poll? I think I saw two poll results and IIRC there were quite similar.

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this year, we're studying the Old Testament. We're currently reading Genesis. It occurs to me that God must have instituted another period of "the lamb and the lion shall lie down together" after the flood while the prey species again replenished the earth. Either that, or we lost a lot of species right after the flood (that we today have no idea about) due to carnivores eating one or both of only two animals of a species.
