It was an artistic masterpiece, known for its interior paintings, icons, and its five domes,especially the central dome, which witnessed the appearance of the Mother of Light for many months, beginning on April 2, 1968. The church was consecrated in 1925. Elders of the church recount that the Virgin appeared to Khalil Pasha and told him: “I will appear in the church you built in my name after many years”a promise that was later fulfilled. It is also known that the Holy Family blessed this place and stayed there during their visit to Egypt. The Holy Virgin chose Copts and the Coptic Orthodox Church to manifest in one of the greatest apparitions in the history of Christianity. This appearance continued for an extended period of two years, during which she appeared daily or almost daily, performing miracles openly before everyone. Millions of people witnessed these events,it was not something seen by just one or two individuals, but a public and historic event observed by all. The Virgin’s love for her Coptic Orthodox people was clearly revealed, and the whole world bore witness to this extraordinary event.
