I’m going to say the quiet part out loud. Many self promoting experts in mental health have precious little experience in actually working as therapists and wouldn’t know what to do in the chair. People deserve both research and experience. We owe them that work.

I think one of the biggest myths about relationships today is that they don’t take work, in the form of communication, boundaries, self-advocacy, directness, negotiation, flexibility, vulnerability, etc. Healthy, functional rships aren’t something we can just buy off a shelf.
