Garganey brought smiles to many faces today... #rarebirds #ducks

Yesterday’s pair of Garganey showed up again just before mid-day on East Marsh at Brandon Marsh, Warks. today.

Still hanging on to one Brambling in the garden at Barnacle, Warks. Regular visitors since February 5th, joined today by a male Siskin and still two wintering Blackcaps.

Distant Knot & L.R.P @RSPBMiddleton Lakes,Staffs. this morning on Jubilee Wetlands. Afternoon walk around Barnacle,Warks. produced two patch year ticks with Peregrine & 3 Little Egrets.

A few more from ‘up north’. Eider & Guillemot in Blyth harbour,Northumberland this morning and then Little Owl, Kestrel & booming Bitterns at St.Aidan’s, West Yorkshire this afternoon.

Couple from a trip up to the north-east today. Juvenile Black-Throated Diver in Hartlepool marina, Cleveland & a juvenile Glaucous Gull at Shibdon Pond, Durham.

Mid-day visit to Ryton Pools C.P, Warks. for the drake Ferruginous Duck and the long staying female Smew. Both on the south pool.

After drawing a blank on Pintail at Brandon Marsh, Warks. last year, it was nice to see this drake there this morning.

Still getting a couple of Brambling coming to the garden feeders here in Barnacle,Warks. Been here all month , but still a little camera shy.

Garganey in Hayle this afternoon before driving back from Cornwall. Stopped off in Avon to have a look at the female Hooded Merganser at Pilning Wetlands.

Life tick of Ross’s Gull today at Newlyn, Cornwall. Also in the bay; Pacific Diver & 5 Great Northern Divers. Finished the day off with the Ring-Billed Gull at Hayle.

Bufflehead & Lesser Yellowlegs from a glorious calm day in North Wales today. Also on the day list were Surf Scoter & Long-Tailed Duck.

Another Brambling in our garden today at Barnacle, Warks. This time a male, joining the female thats been around since Thursday.

Trip over to Rutland Water, Leics. today for this cracking Red-Necked Grebe.

Brambling in our garden for the second day at Barnacle, Warks. Also two over-wintering Blackcap .

Great Grey Shrike still showing distantly today at Fillingham, Lincolnshire.
