Wrong.
In 2003, NYC had a massive blackout, and while walking several miles home without a subway, my dad passed an ice cream store. Stuck without power and in throes of the August heat, they were giving away cones to anyone that would take them.
Of course, this had made them a very popular stop, and by the time he stumbled across them, they’d run out of everything but pistachio. He’d never had it, but figured a free scoop was a free scoop, and gave it a shot.
Today when he tells the story, he uses it as an example of how you’re never too old to learn something new about yourself. He was born in 1955, and I’ve never seen him order anything else since.
It took him 48 years to find his favorite ice cream flavor, don’t let guys like this make it take longer for you.

If you’re an adult man at an ice cream shop, you shouldn’t be asking to try the different flavors before you order. You know what they taste like. Just pick one. You’re a man.
