Lenny produced the entire album and played almost every instrument (except drums). Today in Rock History June 17, 1988 The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years was released to theaters. The documentary was directed by Penelope Spheeris and served as the second installment in her Decline of Western Civilization trilogy. The film documents the Los Angeles glam metal scene of the mid-to-late 1980s, focusing on the excess, lifestyle, and struggles of heavy metal musicians trying to succeed during the height of the Sunset Strip era. Through interviews, backstage footage, and live performances, the movie captures both major stars and aspiring bands navigating the music industry during the peak of the hair metal movement. Artists featured in the film include Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Kiss (including Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons), Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., Faster Pussycat, London, Odin, and Chris Holmes.
