I decided to partake in the #uidaily design challenge a few days ago. This is a thread that I am making to share the designs that I have done so far

People are afraid of disability They can’t comprehend getting sick and never getting better They tell us to try harder They blame it on lifestyle choices. They label us expendable and tell themselves they’ll be the exception No one is the exception. It can happen to anyone.

A serious question for the people who go on about 'genuine disabled people'. Do you think that in order to be considered to not be faking it, we have to just sit at home all day staring at the walls? I only ask because that is the vibe I'm getting from certain corners of this particular website.

A disabled person that wants a better world for those who don't have a voice and can't advocate for themselves. Every time you use derogatory terms for disability you're normalizing the stigma & attitude around disability and towards the disabled.

So these thugs get to throw their weight around yet they’ll arrest the peaceful Palestine Action protesters. Okay, makes sense 🙃

I’ve seen a lot of abled people expressing disgust for people who have very untidy homes. Do they not think there could be reason? If you’re disabled, it is extremely difficult keeping a pristine home for so many potential reasons. With me, it’s hard because of physical, mental and neurodevelopmental reasons. It’s not making excuses, it’s reality for many disabled people. Moral of the story? Don’t judge what you don’t understand.

@antonodudev @toadmeister I am so bored with these responses to a perfectly normal comment. The car is free to the recipient; the tax payer pays for it. I’m not jealous. You are weird.

@ZiaYusufUK The “Blue Badge” permits are also being abused. I’ve seen so called “motability” cars such as Audi’s and Porsche’s parked outside pubs with such a permit being in the screen.

1 in 5 cars sold in the UK are paid for by the taxpayer through the Motability program, including BMWs and Audis. There’s no means testing, so households with six figure incomes are getting luxury coupes on the taxpayer’s dime. Over half of the recipients of the free cars have never had a medical exam to assess eligibility. If it’s the government’s position that everyone in the UK should get a free car, then they should be honest and give one to everyone. As things stand, the system is totally rigged against those who play by the rules.

@Fiona35352137 @toadmeister This is just not true, its not a "free car" also. Instead of being mad at your employer you're jealous of a disabled person. Weird

@toadmeister I used to work with a bloke who had a “bad back”. He got a new car every three years. Free of charge. His car was much better than mine. I had to get rid of my car because I couldn’t afford the repairs required to pass the MOT.

@London_W4 @TragedyCalls People can only get a motability car if they get the higher rate of mobility on their PIP. Not only do they give up the money, but they pay a lot of money towards their motability car. Why does bother you or any other ableist person what someone else gets and pays for?!?

And can someone please explain why the government (by government I mean taxpayers) is financing this type of car on the Motability scheme? The car is over £40,000. It doesn’t look like an essential vehicle to get you around. The world’s gone mad.

@TragedyCalls Why should they have anything? Plenty of poor people can’t afford any car. And if the disabled person or their family can top up hundreds of pounds per month towards a fancy car, why couldn’t they buy a cheap car for their disabled relative without taxpayers help?

@ZoeyyQueen @allthings_UC Just say you're jealous of disabled people because at this point thats what it is. The only issue with PIP it is a horrible process for disabled people

@Annely922 @London_W4 Why would they want to if they are given another, new one, for free? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good scheme and I support it. But it’s massively abused. I’ve seen it first hand.
