The dome on the corner of Glasgow's Union and Gordon Streets has now collapsed as a fire rages through a major city centre landmark. Glasgow Central Station is closed and the Grand Central Hotel has been evacuated as more than 60 firefighters battle to control the blaze.

This speech *is* one for the history books. But that’s less a compliment, than a coda. Carney has given us the words to mark the end of the ‘rules-based order’…by acknowledging it never really existed. It was a collective illusion. That now is over.

I love London, I have lived here my whole life and I am immensely sad to be writing this. In the last week I have seen 4 phone thefts and tonight had my phone stolen by a bike gang for the 2nd time. I pay $2M in taxes per year, the lawlessness is off the charts, the entrepreneurs have left, the taxes are higher than ever. London is sadly falling.
