Quick reminder: almost no one who says ‘we need to overhaul our food system’ knows how complex adaptive systems work or how diet impacts health. Reality: we can drop food prices and improve availability with deregulation and elimination of subsidies. Banning food additives or putting labels on junk foods will be barely noticeable in outcomes, because we already know why obesity is a big problem: most people eat too much tasty food and don’t care about their health as much as we’d like them to.

He appeals to a widespread, common-sense idea that the problem with our food is that it has "lots of artificial ingredients". Get the artificial ingredients out — no chemical additives! no food dyes! no high fructose corn syrup! — and our health problems magically resolve. This is 100% incorrect, and fundamentally misunderstands the problems with our food system.
