Mielle McFadden stood before the nation at the 10th National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence. On Saturday, Mielle was shot and killed at a house party. She deserved a future. She deserved safety. She deserved everything she was fighting for. We will not forget her voice.

When you vote today, do it for my cousin Alex, who will never get to vote himself. Alex was killed in his English classroom in Parkland by a gunman with an AR-15. Today, vote for a future free of gun violence.

I am a gun owner, and I believe we can protect the Second Amendment while also passing gun safety laws. We need to reinstate the assault weapons ban and pass universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws to keep our children and communities safe.

The lines to vote at the University of Central Florida are 2 to 3 hours long and have been for the past week. Meanwhile, at other early voting locations with older populations it’s 10 minutes. ⁦@OCFElections⁩ is suppressing the youth vote. This is election interference.
