I am not discounting the effort you put into making your home work. What you have described is real labor, real sacrifice, and real commitment. Anyone reading that routine can see the discipline and strength it takes to keep everything running while also building a demanding career. Hats off to you. One of the biggest lessons I learnt from my mother, who holds a PhD and still built a warm and functional home, is the importance of outsourcing where possible. She understood early that trying to do everything alone often comes at the cost of peace, focus and sometimes even health. That lesson stayed with me and it shapes how I think about family life today. For me, clarity of mind and the ability to be fully present in the roles that matter most, requires reducing avoidable pressure. That is why in my home we outsource laundry and cleaning. When we start having children, we will also have childcare support. I also have a driver. These are not indulgences. They are deliberate decisions to create space for productivity, patience, and emotional balance. This is not me speaking from privilege or ignoring the reality that many people are still building towards that level of support. It is about prioritising a structure that reduces the silent resentment that can grow when one partner is consistently overwhelmed by domestic responsibilities while still expected to excel professionally. Sometimes, the real goal is not to prove how much we can endure but to create systems that allow everyone in the home to thrive. If breaking my back in the streets of lagos allows me to ease the load at home, then that trade off is worth it. Peace, partnership, and shared progress are more sustainable than silent exhaustion.
