My dear Family, Thank you so much for your prayers and support in these trying times! I got very lucky today. My power came back on at 9:30 am! This was a miracle -- just like I discussed in The Power of the Positive: t.co/O2lyveCgZG As you may know, I live in the Colorado Rockies at 8,640 feet altitude. Although it is beautiful, we have had the worst wind season I've ever experienced this year. The wind can tear down trees, overturn vehicles, knock out the power and quickly pull all the warmth out of your house. It's very, very intense stuff. You hear "constant car crashes" against the walls of the house. The floor shakes, and the logs constantly crack and pop. We talked in the show about how mass prayer can affect outcomes -- and thanks to you, I got RESULTS! Our "consciousness experiment" actually worked. I thank you so much for sending me your prayers! Your love, positivity and support gave me a great gift. I never expected to get my power back today. I was astounded! Today would have been incredibly rough for me if the power didn't come back on. We still have over 25,000 customers who are down in the area, some since yesterday -- with an even worse event starting tonight. Had my power not come back on this soon, I would have been extremely cold -- and surviving on emergency rations only throughout the day. Not good at all. The power company had already warned me that we could be out for "up to several days." This has been a huge exercise in preparedness and not giving into fear! Think about it -- these are the darkest nights of the entire year as we head into the Winter Solstice. Last night was crazy. I barely slept at all. I was camped out and barely sleeping on the couch in front of the upstairs fireplace, just after I got the chimney cleaned. It was extremely cramped and uncomfortable, to say the least -- but I had to do it in order to survive and keep the house warm enough to stop the pipes from freezing. I had to put more wood on at least every hour. My fireplace is really only cosmetic. It is not a wood stove. Without power, you can't get very much heat unless you leave the doors open, which is too dangerous to do while awake. You get gobs of smoke blowing into the house from backdrafts as well. The house got very cold despite the fire, but thankfully I see no evidence of any damage to the pipes today. Everything appears to be fine. It was SO intense! I am rebuilding the radiant heat profile in the house as we speak -- while already knowing I will lose it all again tonight. The wind was roaring all last night, although it is quiet right for now. I am heading right back into it again tonight for the final round. I had to wear a full winter outfit on the couch. Below the waist I had boxer shorts, two merino wool base layers, sweat pants, ski pants, my thickest wool socks, and slippers. Above the waist I had a T-shirt, a merino wool base layer, a sweater, a winter ski hat and a sleep mask for my eyes, so I could avoid most of the glare of the fireplace. The low temperature tonight isn't quite as severe, as it actually goes up to 40 during the night. That means no risk of pipes freezing, thank God. I should be able to sleep in my normal bed until at least 4:30. That being said, we are scheduled to lose power again tonight at 5AM with a "Public Safety Power Shutdown" [PSPS] due to the final round of wind. Thankfully that is only two and a half hours before the sun starts coming up. This next storm is even more dangerous than the one we just navigated through, with sustained highs up to 48. [See the chart attached for tonight's forecast, and the Power Outage Map. I've never seen so many people out of power in this area.] A wind-speed average of 48 produces hurricane-force gusts surging over 80. I will almost certainly lose more trees on the property, which is always very sad. Anything over 28 to 30 is very noisy and disruptive. Speeds over 30 are extremely rare, and the higher it goes, the more dangerous it gets. We are going over 40 as early as 1AM tonight. This is the Big Leagues, and this house isn't properly insulated for this weather. These winds are going to stay intense through at least the first half of Friday. They don't drop off to more manageable levels until right before my normal winter bedtime of 9PM tomorrow night. There is no guarantee as to when or if the power will come back on tomorrow -- so I am asking for your help! This is the final round of the initiation. Again, I ask that you please pray for me and all those in the greater Boulder / Denver area, so we can get through this ordeal with minimum pain and suffering. Many others have it far worse. I feel very blessed -- and I thank you! This is a very extreme situation we are heading into. Statistically it is even worse than the others I have already endured. Right now I am in "the calm before the storm." Your love, support and prayer absolutely created a miracle -- so "let's go two for two!" I am genuinely astonished to have gotten the power back on so quickly today! With your help, let's co-create another miracle! I am going to start loading in more firewood now. I did enjoy running a fire again, I must say. Thank you in advance for your continuing prayer power support! I could choose to be scared about this, and in some ways I am -- but like I said in the show, you just have to stay focused, keep busy and maintain a positive attitude.
