Between 2013 to 2018 and even upto 2022, Rochas Okorocha arrogated to himself the most brilliant politician of Eastern extraction. He thought he will be first President of South east block. He collapsed Imo state APGA structure into APC...speaking Hausa language up and down to posture himself as a nationalist. In his euphoria and optimism, he carried himself as the smartest man from South east...insulting every igbo politicians and entire igbo nation for disagreeing with him. On that cold night in Abuja during 2022 convention, he learnt the hard way. It became very clear to him that he wasted his time, energy, money and APGA mandate collapsed into APC . Used and dumped!!!! By the time President Tinubu assumed office properly, EFCC came knocking at his door and he was messed up...since then, he never recovered from it. He's now gone into political oblivion!!!! Zero influence both in Imo state and National politics . Same fate awaits most of all the South east politicians especially current Governors and Ministers eyeing VP slot in 2031. E go blur soon for their eyes.

The publication by The Sun Nigeria alleging that I was “dragged to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over a ₦100 million kickback for a fake contract” is entirely false and raises serious questions about motive, particularly given its suspicious timing. According to the report, I was linked to an alleged kickback tied to a so-called “fake contract.” Let it be stated categorically and without ambiguity, I have never been invited, queried, or contacted by the ICPC on this or any related matter. At no time has the Commission written to me or sought any explanation regarding any allegation whatsoever. Even more fundamentally, as a Senator, I do not award contracts, not even for constituency projects. All such projects are executed strictly by relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government in line with established procedures. Any attempt to associate me with contract awards reflects either a fundamental misunderstanding of how government functions or a deliberate act of misinformation. What is most telling, however, is the timing. How coincidental that this publication surfaces the very morning after my interview on ARISE Television, where I spoke candidly on the state of the nation and held the government accountable. This pattern is not lost on discerning observers. It is becoming increasingly evident that those who choose to speak truth to power must now contend not only with resistance but also with calculated attempts at intimidation and character assassination. Let it be made clear, I will not be silenced. I remain resolute in my commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible governance. If this is the consequence of refusing to align with the excesses of government, then so be it. I fully expect more of such attacks. They will not deter me, because the Nigerian people deserve leaders who will speak boldly, not those who shrink from the truth. What lessons can be offered to those who live daily under the weight of our iniquitous politics? What intrigues me is not the falsehoods Dele peddles, but the northern arrogance, thinly veiled as MISSION CIVILISATRICE, the same conceit so brazenly displayed in 2014 against GEJ.

Peter Obi becomes President in 2027. Who becomes a decent opposition? Every government (good or bad) needs critical opposition to keep them on their toes. That's how institutional governance evolves. Who would become a Peter Obi to Peter Obi, please don't mention HeadBoy. 🙏

Disingenuity at its peak. Akin, long after Tinubu is gone from the political scene and is no more on earth, the Yoruba people will still coexist with every other tribe in this country. That is why narratives like this are not only reckless, but deeply irresponsible. Nigeria already had a Yoruba president in Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years, yet nobody had to manufacture ethnic propaganda about a monarch ‘graciously’ allowing a hall to be used by politicians from another tribe. Politics was not reduced to tribal suspicion and petty gatekeeping. What makes this even more dishonest is that Peter Obi was invited for a public lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University, not a campaign rally, not a party congress, and not a political strategy meeting. The school authorities themselves stated that the event was cancelled because they were not properly informed in time, citing security concerns. So how exactly did you jump from that explanation to the conclusion that ‘OAU has a well-known stance on partisan politics’? The injustice you support today, will find you some day, maybe your children or forth generations to come
Akin Olaoye@akintollgate

This was a town hall held in 2023 for the LP candidate, Peter Obi in Ile-Ife Feb 17th, 2023.. The reception was warm, electric, and superb. Every seat was filled with young, brilliant minds from universities across the Ife axis. In the heat of the 2023 political season, I instructed the ground team that we would stay away from the OAU campus while seeking out venues, as we were fully aware of the university’s well-known stance on partisan politics. Local coordinators who facilitated the event planning like @realevabest and others can testify to this known stance . Any former student or alumnus of OAU needs no lecture on this reality. I requested the use of Kabiyesi Ooni’s OJAJA Hall and his office generously made it available to us at a modest amount, compared to its booking fee. This was southwest hospitality and political tolerance at its finest promoted by local leaders. Not a single incident of harassment at the epicenter of Yoruba land, where zero intimidation or push back against a gathering of Nigerians choosing a candidate of their choice, who was not locally popular occurred. I cannot vouch the same for other cities or states outside the region. After awaiting the candidate from Lagos for hours who couldn’t make it in due to weather challenges, we opted for a teleconference via zoom to continue the program. My previous post was a reminder that OAU Ife has a long-running history of remaining apolitical and treats political events with high sensitivity for those who may not be aware. A thankless endeavor, where the total cost of funding such political events out of pocket to promote a civic discourse in our evolving politics, is not common place. Today it’s heartbreaking to see many resorting to divisive rhetoric with claims of intolerance against a history of events that shows otherwise. Our politics has become excessively polarized, toxic and one bearing fangs of needless ethnic bickering, with many like myself, looking back in hindsight and wonder if it was worth any of it. Do your politics, but once again my dearest “OAU Ife cannot be Cancelled”. Prince Akin Olaoye - Ife North

Before 2022 election, Dele Momodu went on TV and said that he Peter Obi doesn’t know what he is getting into, that the people in Labour Party just want to “chop” his money. He told us how the same party squandered his own ₦10m. What if we listened to him “teach us politics” then? Now he is back “teaching us politics”. If Dele were an honest person, he would go and beg Peter Obi to teach HIM politics.

Alleged corruption: Ijaw women seek fair hearing for Alison-Madueke The trial of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, over corruption allegations, came to the fore in Abuja on Monday again as Ijaw women kicked against what they described as her “trial in the court of public opinion” while legal proceedings were ongoing. The Ijaw women stated that while they would not defend the former minister over whatever offences Alison-Madueke might have been accused of, it was only fair to ask that the legal processes be followed through and a judgment be passed appropriately, as against the growing trend of public trial or “sensationalisation” of the issues in Nigeria. The women, speaking under the aegis of Ijaw Women Advocates for Justice, told a news conference in Abuja that “justice must be done properly, lawfully and without prejudice.” A former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Dr Timiebi Koripamo-Agary, who spoke on behalf of the women, explained that the group was not out to defend Alison-Madueke but rather to oppose condemning her before her court processes were concluded. She stated, “We are not here to defend or condemn any individual. We are here to defend the principle. “The ongoing proceedings in the United Kingdom must remain exactly what they are: a judicial process, not a public spectacle. “We reject the growing tendency to try individuals in the court of public opinion while legal processes are still underway. That path undermines justice itself. “Every individual, regardless of position, past office, or public perception is entitled to fair hearing, due process (and) the presumption of innocence. These are not privileges, they are rights.” The Nigerian Tribune recalls that the former minister is currently facing a bribery trial at the Southwark Crown Court in London on six counts of bribery and “conspiracy to commit bribery.” According to prosecutors from the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), she allegedly abused her official position between 2010 and 2015 to push huge oil and gas contracts to specific business interests in exchange for financial rewards and cash payments of about £100,000 ($137,000). Other allegations included extensive shopping for luxury goods at high-end retailers like Harrods; the use of chauffeur-driven cars; private jet travel; the use of multiple luxury properties in London and Buckinghamshire, including funding for their maintenance and refurbishment. When convicted under the United Kingdom’s (UK) anti-bribery law, the former minister is liable to a jail term of up to 10 years in addition to fines. However, Alison-Madueke has pleaded not guilty to the charges in her court appearances so far. Other notable names at the news conference were Dame Julie Donli, Princess Rosemary John-Oduone, Honourable Stella Ayamara Dorgu, and Chief Duenize Ogon. If it were reported that Blacks were being hunted down and killed in any nation in 2026, it would be unbelievable. I do not believe all South Africans are xenophobic, just as not all Southerners under Jim Crow were racist. Today i saw images of black African children being guarded to attend a school in South Africa, just as a little black girl was guarded to attend school during the civil right movement in America. how did South Africa fall off so much? Many nations xenophobic policies; some deny visas and deport on sight. However, the sight of armed South Africans marching through cities, hunting down African immigrants, calling meetings with "white" employers to sack Black workers, and threatening patients and students schools and hospitals to stop Black immigrants getting care is another level of xenophobia. South Africa is playing a narrow-minded game; its exports to the rest of Africa account for about 29–32% of its total exports, making Africa its largest regional market. Exports to Africa, mainly to SADC countries like Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, account for roughly 26–30% of South Africa’s merchandise exports in recent years. Nigeria is MTNs crown jewel. What would happen if Black SADC nations demanded that South African businesses leave? What if MTN-owned base stations in Nigeria were targeted and destroyed? The South African government cannot justify actions by saying 'respect our laws". Remember, apartheid was also the law. is it legal in South Africa for ordinary citizens to demand papers and physically assault? even kill? There is little point in arguing over people's land. They are very clear—they do not want Black African immigrants. How can you emigrate to live in a country where you cannot be certain that your children can attend school safely because armed South African citizens are hunting down Black Africans? Reports of deaths among immigrants have already emerged. Their claim that these immigrants commit crimes has some basis in data, but the South African authorities have the SA police and immigration forces—so why not utilize them? From the start, I warned that this situation would not improve but worsen. If you can, leave. Even if this cycle ends, it will restart. There is no point in reasoning with these individuals; what is happening is a reflection of deep, unresolved trauma. At the same time, we must reflect inward and ask why there are so few opportunities in 'Black' Africa. Has the leadership in Sub-Saharan Africa created enough jobs to keep its youth engaged? Even amid this crisis, have African nations stood up and protected their citizens in South Africa, have the leadership of black Africa spoken? It is a sad story for Africa.
